Does anyone still read this book? Ah well, who cares? I saw twenty one pilots again on 9th March 2019 at The SSE Arena, Wembley, and it was magical. Here's my review of it:
"Concert Review 18: Twenty One Pilots at The SSE Arena, Wembley, with support from The Regrettes.
"If Tyler comes close to me, I'll have an asthma attack," an excitable Twenty One Pilots fan says to her friend as atmospheric music plays around The SSE Arena in Wembley. The band from Columbus, Ohio are due on at any moment, and the audience are tense with anticipation, especially as punk/rock US openers The Regrettes have left the stage half an hour before. They did a fantastic job of warming up the crowd, but everyone is here for the main event. Suddenly, the arena descends into darkness and everyone screams as a hooded figure with a flaming torch is revealed on stage. The figure walks to the drum kit, and is revealed to be drummer, Josh Dun. As the house lights turn on, a man standing on a car is revealed to be frontman Tyler Joseph. The duo launch into 'Jumpsuit', which is the opening track from their latest album, Trench. By the time they get to the B Stage at the back of the venue, there have been multiple costume changes, singalongs, genre hopping songs - from heavy rock to indie and just about every genre in between - and drums solos. At the B Stage, the duo play three songs, which is an excellent way of letting the people at the back view the band. There's even a bridge that connects the main stage to the B stage, allowing everyone to see them. Once back at the main stage, the spectacle doesn't end as there's Josh the enigmatic backflipping drummer who doesn't utter a word during the 2 hour show, and instead shows off his impressive drumming which never seems to slow down, a fantastic lights display, and Tyler jumping off his piano. As this is their last U.K. show and the last of 3 sold out nights at Wembley, many people would've thought the duo wouldn't be on the ball, but they make every show look as if it's their first. By the time it comes to closing song, 'Trees', the audience has enough - if not more - energy, jumping around and holding the band up as they play the drums on top of the crowd. "We're twenty one pilots, and so are you. Thank you so much for coming, we'll be back," Tyler says into the microphone as they bow at the end of the show. After that almost theatre like show, it's not just the band that'll be coming back, as their loyal fans will as well, along with some new fans.
The Regrettes: 4.5/5 Twenty One Pilots: 5/5"
