20 » "CRANK PARTY"

Music thumped under Adeline's feet as Newt and Adeline made their way towards the entrance of the building, where they'd been informed Cranks were partying. That Cranks, or those in the early stages of the Flare, came to party before they lost their sanity. The group split up into pairs to look for Thomas and Brenda, after they'd been split up from them back before the building was blown up. Jorge was adamant that they would be with a man named Marcus; he knew that Marcus would sell Thomas back to WICKED. Minho paired them up, pairing Adeline up with Newt, most likely to avoid any disagreement from Newt about being separated from Adeline. Soon enough, they had dispersed away from one another.

Newt grasped Adeline's hand, just as he peeled back the beaded curtains and stepped foot into the room. Inside, it was crowded with Cranks — Adeline presumed that many were probably in the early stages of the Flare. Scanning the room, she cautiously kept herself close to Newt as they stepped deeper into the crowd of Cranks around them. Faces watched the two of them as they walked deeper into the crowd, and one Crank managed to snake his hand around her arm and dragged her towards him.

"Oh my, aren't you a pretty thing." The man purrs. Adeline tries to pull her arm away, but the man doesn't let go. "Oh, c'mon princess. Just a kiss, eh?"

Newt, upon realising the Crank looking at Adeline like a piece of meat, yanks her towards him, pushing her behind him protectively.

"Hey, leave her alone, shuck - face." Newt snaps. The man's eyes glint with a hint of insanity.

"And who are you? Her boyfriend?" The man sneers.

"In fact, yeah. Lay off." Newt growls. Adeline grabs Newt's arm, yanking him away from the crazed man. Newt doesn't disagree, and they move on. The man just winks at Adeline as they move away from him.

"We gotta find Thomas." Adeline reminds him. "Blend in."

Newt only nods, and they continue on. They come to an abrupt stop when they notice a crowd of people, crowding around a Crank — too far gone — chained up. The Crank growls, snapping like a rabid animal at those around him. Adeline watches as a man raises a gun, points it at the Crank. The last thing Adeline sees is that, as she turns her head as the gunshot rings out across the room. Newt pulls her away. They continued on with their search, dodging greedy hands of male Cranks that try to grab Adeline's arms, or snake their way around her waist. As they make their way further, a female figure jumps before Newt, ignoring Adeline beside him. The female brushes her hand down Newt's cheek, and an uncomfortable look appears on his face.

"What a pretty boy." she purrs at him. "Too pretty to lose his mind. Please tell me you're not that far gone, dear?"

"Err ..." Newt mumbles, unsure on what to say to the female before him. Newt gulps nervously, the female's hand now stroking his arms seductively. Newt grabs her hand, rejecting the females interest in him. Adeline steps towards the female, stopping her from her attempts at seduction. The female Crank realises Adeline's presence, and her eyes burn holes at her.
