27 → "OUTRAGED"

"After the maze, I got picked up by a group headed to the city." Gally explains, leading the group down a ramp. People watched their newcomers as they followed Gally, Adeline peering up to stare at the faces watching her. Others followed behind them. "They realised I was immune, patched me up, and they brought me here to Lawrence."

They head past people working, who are watching them as they pass them by. A man watches them, but as he catches sight of her, he winks Adeline's way. Adeline shifts her eyes away, and thankfully Newt didnt even notice the man's gesture. They turned away and head down another ramp, listening to Gally's backstory about the group that he has allied with.

"This group's been at war with WICKED ever since they took control of the city." Gally continues. "But WICKED can't hide behind those walls forever. Day's gonna come and they're gonna pay for what they've done." Gally comes to a stop, arriving to where Adeline presumes Lawrence is. "Listen, uh, he doesn't get a lot of visitors. So, let me do the talking. All right? And try not to stare."

With that, Gally heads toward the room, removing his weapon. As they follow Gally, Adeline makes out babbling of the same words; "Rose took my nose, I suppose". Gally descends down a small set of stairs, and the six of them follow slowly behind, warily. The man, presumingly Lawrence, tends to an arrangement of flowers. Sunlight streams in through the glass panels behind, which makes it hard for Adeline to make out the man, who is also standing in the dark corner of the room. From what Adeline could make out, the man appeared to be hooked up to some sort of IV drip.

"Gally." The man speaks up. "Glad to see you made it back. Jasper told me what happened."

"It was a slaughter. There's nothing we could do against those guns." Gally explains.

"No, but they can only poke the hornet's nest so long before they get stung." The man responds, bringing up a rose to his nose. "Now, who are these people? Why are they here?"

"We need to get into WICKED." This comes from Thomas. Didn't Gally tell us that he would be doing the talking? "Gally said you can get us through the walls."

The man stops, placing both hands on the wooden table beside him. He turns toward the group, and even though they can't see it, Adeline knows that he is staring directly at Thomas. "Gally should know better to make promises that he can't keep. Besides that wall is only half of your problem. Getting inside WICKED is impossible."

"There might be a way now." Gally states. "But it doesn't work without Thomas."

"Is that so?" Lawrence quizzes. He begins to move forward, making it easier to see the man's face. He clutches the pole to the IV bag as he moves into the light. "Do you know what I am, Thomas?"
