Chapter 26

Abbie's POV

-Flashback- 

Today started off like a normal day in the glade. All the runners went out to figure out a way to get out of this hole and everyone went along with their job. I was doing my job as a med-jack when Newt came in. 

"You're all good now, Trevor." I said and he walked out waving his newly wrapped hand at me. 

"What he do now?" Newt asked. 

"His job as a slicer." I said while Newt nodded knowing those in that position often got injured. 

"What are you doing here?" I asked while putting the material I used to wrap Trevor's hand away. 

"Just visiting my girl." He said and wrapped his arms around me right after I finished putting the stuff away. 

"You're adorable." I said and turned around putting my arms around his neck. 

"I'm not but you are." He said and pecked me on the lips. We stayed in that position for a few minutes reveling in the comfort that hold gives to both of us and knowing we were still alive before someone came to ruin it. 

"Can you shacks like not do this?" Jeff asked us while he walked into the hut. 

"You think we were cute if I recall the last time we talked." I said to him while getting out of Newt's hold who ended up whining from the loss of contact. 

"You are adorable but there are points that it gets annoying." Jeff said, "Also Newt, Alby's looking for you." 

Newt nodded and kissed my cheek before leaving. 

"Can y'all stop it?" Jeff asked and I giggled before going back to a normal conversation while fixing up some of the material he brought out to help with wrapping someone else outside of the hut. 

-Few Hours Later- 

After the runners came back and everyone had dinner, all the gladers socialized while Alby, Minho, Leon, Newt, and I were all talking. While the three gladers were laughing about something, Newt and I kept whispering sweet nothings to the other making some of the others cringe at how couple-y we were before Alby called it a night and told everyone to sleep. 

"Goodnight." I said to Newt outside of my hut. 

"Night my love. I love you." He said and then kissed my forehead. 

"Love you too." I said before he then kissed me. 

He left and I walked into my hut to go to sleep. 

Third POV 

 While all the gladers went to sleep, the lift that brings the material and new glader came up carrying some WICKED guards and scientists. Once they made it, they quietly made it to Abbie's hut and they went in to see the sleeping girl. They quickly sedated her so she wouldn't make noise before a guard grabbed her and they left after they left a note on the girl's bed for the gladers. The next morning, the gladers woke up to the worst news they had leaving most of them upset but one being the most heartbroken. 

-Flashback End-
