Chapter 32

Abbie's POV 

When I notice Newt starting to open his eyes, I also saw the black veins on his face start disappearing. 

"Abbie." He said. 

"It worked!" I cheered in excitement before pulling him in a hug and then giving him a peck on the lips. 

We were in the moment before we heard a female voice call out from behind us, "Where'd Thomas go?" 

We looked up and noticed Thomas was gone before we went to stand up. 

"You're ok Newt." I saw Minho come and say with Gally right next to him. 

While the two went to hug Newt, I started thinking of ideas till one popped in my head. 

"He might have gone back to the headquarters to confront Dr. Paige. Teresa is probably there so he might try and bring her back with us." I said. 

"Well let's go." Newt said before I grabbed his arm. 

"Janson should also be there with them. Lately he's been showing some signs of being infected but I was never to sure and the black veins never popped on his body." I said. 

"How'd you know?" Minho ask. 

"He's more aggressive then usual after he made it back to our headquarters." I said. 

All five of us then tried to think about the fastest way to get to the building till Brenda said, "We have one of the helicopters. We can quickly go in from above and getting the two before we leave and join the others." 

"Smart idea." I said before we all ran after her to follow her to the helicopter. When we got there, we was Frypan and two other guys. 

"Hey there." I said and hugged Frypan who was in shock. 

"You must be the leader, Vince?" I asked one of the guys and he nodded. The other guy who was flying the aircraft said, "Jorge." 

I said a quick hello before we took off and headed towards the building to see it about to collapse under the fire. 

"There." I said quickly spotting them and Jorge flew closer and Brenda opened the hatch. We all did our best to get as close to grab the two of them with Vince being the one closest to get close to grab onto Thomas. Surrounding buildings were starting to go down and I saw an idea pop into Teresa's head before she took action and quickly shoved Thomas into the craft with us pulling him in. 

Before we can then try and get Teresa in, the building collapsed causing her to fall through. We all yelled her name before Thomas passed out. 

"Pull him in and let's go." Vince commanded before we did just that. 

I managed to make a makeshift bed for him inside the craft before I went into my medical work with checking out his gunshot wound before wrapping it in gauze.   

Knowing they had better material at their base, I decided to take a break from being a doctor and going over to Newt. 

"Abbie." He said my name with that accent of his before pulling me in his arms. 

"I'm so glad you're fine." I muttered in his chest. 

"Stay by my side when we get to safety?" He asked me. 

"Forever?" I asked back. 

"Always." He said.
