Chapter 3

I wondered around the city as I had the night before, and the night before that. The testing had started an hour ago and not one peep from any police or on goers. Was I in the system? I talked to mother last night about the whole thing and she managed to reassure me.

"Darling, don't worry about that. You know how to use your power, remember that you were and may still be the best swords man? You still have Riptide," she said soothingly as she pet my hair. Would it be sad to say that I was crying a little?

I was stressed, and just the memory of a hysterical me crying to my mother to either kill me or make me forget was enough to get me going.

Mom couldn't come down here to cradle me in real life, she was very important and was busy dealing with her brother, Order.

A loud sound broke me out of my thoughts, it was a yell, "I smell him!"

A man with a frisky beard hounded from around an alley way corner, what caught me off guard were his goat legs. A satyr, dammit.

"There!" he shouted.

Two teenage boys hurled around the corner, they both had long, black hair tied into a ponytail. Both of the boys had celestial bronze tridents out. I felt the ocean roll off of them. Looking at them was like looking in a mirror.

I suddenly felt a strong connection, like if I held my hand out the tridents would fly into my hand with no effort.

And then I realized why.

They looked exactly like me, they had tridents.

So, they were probably related to Poseidon. Making me. . . .

Related to Poseidon.

A turn around ans ran like my life depended on it, maybe it did. All I knew was that a few memories swirled in my head. In one memory, I dimly heard someone - my father - yes, my father, shouting at me for doing something reckless.

A memory that was from even further back than that was my father cursing at Apollo for keeping something from him, I couldn't remember why but I was angry with Apollo too.

The boys shouted for me to stop, many mortals either stepped aside or tried to stop me.

"Stop!" one of the boys yelled at the mortals, "He wants him unharmed!"

Oh really? I can play that game.

I used a pole as an anchor to swing around. There was a bridge around here, I prayed that I had more control over the water then they did.

"Shit! Randol do not let him get into the water!" One of the boys yelled to his twin brother.

I leaped into the water, I glanced to see a glint in the boys eyes.

I turned my head a little to see somebody I wasn't exactly fond of. He had peppery, black hair with sea green eyes.

I made an attempt to spin kick him, but given the fact that I was almost upsidedown in the air it didn't work.

He grabbed my shoulder and caught me from the back. I toppled over him, before he could react I tried to stand but another person tackled me to the ground.

I looked up and saw it was one of the boys who was chasing me.

I started to kick and punch, I even tried to grab riptide from my pocket but it was no use.

Every time I tried to use water Poseidon would slap it to the ground or make it go the other way.

I ended up with the boy and Randol holding me down.

"Shit," I groaned out.

My father bent down to my level with a starfish looking creature in his hands. I heard more people approaching us, more demigods.

He placed it on my neck, the starfish's teeth dug into my skin. The pain was dull, my whole body suddenly felt weak.

I felt my blood trickle down my neck, a small gasp came from the 2 boys and other few demigods.

This wasn't happening, I couldn't get caught and my fingers weren't responding to me.

They let me go and I collapsed into my father's arms. A blonde haired boy stood in front of me.

He looked so familiar, but my eyes burnt with slumber. Something that felt like seaweed was laid over my mouth and nose.

It suction cupped to my face, I could breath through it but I could tell that it was screwing me up.

I tried to scream out loud but my body wouldn't comply at all. My father brushed his hand through my hair.

"Percy, just relax for a little while, Okay?" He muttered.

I tried so hard to move, tears began to slip from the corners of my eyes. Panic built up in my chest like building blocks.

The world started to fade away, my eyelids became more and more heavy. After that, all I saw was black.

~

My eyes opened very slowly, the air I breathed tasted more sweet then it should. I sat in a dimly lit room, a little bit of water puddled on the floor. There were tons of bunk beds around me, a fountain with a stack of coins was at the far end of the room.

How much did I want to bet that I was locked up in my fathers cabin? There was no way I was going to get out anytime soon. I was most likely at a demigod camp with 100 other stuck up demigods completely devoted to kissing the gods asses.

I moved to wipe my mouth, but then I realized that yes, the starfish was gone. . . but the seaweed like mask was not.

I laid in a bed, the sheets were blue and had a green trident outlined in black. I had a vague memory of where I was, a slight image of myself hugging a blonde haired girl dinged in my mind. I tried to focus on it.

The door flung open, I jumped a little. My focus completely dissipated, gone like a whisper in the wind.

"Percy?" the man, who I recognized to be my father, said to me.

I felt a little panic build in my chest, like the kind you get after watching a horror movie for the first time.

"Oh good, you're awake," he rushed over and did something I didn't expect. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me in for a tight hug, I resisted the urge to hug back. My mothers words chimed in my head.

"I don't want to even think about what they might do to you if you get caught."

I tried to push him away but my weak limbs and melting heart prevented me from doing so.

He smiled to me, "How did you wake up Percy? Why didn't you do it sooner? What's wrong with you, you look completely lost."

I tried to reply, my father face palmed and gently peeled the seaweed off of my mouth and nose.

"What is that?" I asked, my voice hoarse. Which raised a new question, "How long have I been sleeping?"

"Oh. . . this is a specially enhanced type of seaweed Athena made when Triton tried to take over the earth a century or two ago, and. . . depends on how you put it. Sense we saved you, only 2 weeks."

What does he mean by saved?

"Saved?" I snarled at him.

"You don't need to know about that, your nephews will show you around," he said.

"Nephews?" I asked, silently filing that saved comment into the back of my mind.

"Yes, Randal and Christian," he said to me, "they were with you and I earlier."

"I thought. . . they were my brothers?" I said silently.

He grinned at me, "Yeah. . . um, they are children of our golden boy."

I got the message, I almost laughed at his subtle way of telling me of their parentage, when I remembered that this was the man who had ripped apart a whole island just to find me.

I stared at my hands, this was going to suck.
