My eyelids feel heavy. Barely aware of the world around me, I pushed for my awakening. This is just like the tree.
Who knows? I could of already been in here for 2 million years. The gods could be gone. The mortals could be gone. I could of been forgotten, just an empty husk of a human forever sleeping and never saved.
How I woke up in the first place? The world shook, the whole damn thing. The tree turned me into a set of maracas.
Light suddenly pierced my darkness. I heard a voice. . . It was small and gentle, cooing at me to wake up.
I recognized it, it was a males voice. A young one at that.
I tried to open my eyes, but to no avail. I called out for mothers help, but she didn't respond to me. I felt warmth on my forehead, another voice and warmth on my hand.
The darkness melted as I pushed through the void head first.
My fingers twitched as I opened my eyes. So, I wasn't in a tree?
I saw Apollo, his hand on mine. His eyes were closed as he muttered in ancient Greek.
"Hey," my raspy voice called out, "what happened? What year is it?"
Apollo gasped and grabbed my face on between his soft, yet calloused, hands, "Perce! You're awake! And so soon. . . ."
"What. . . ," I tried, but I began to violently cough. Blood flew out of my mouth and onto my hands.
Apollo quickly grabbed my hands, next to me, a black haired boy wearing a black shirt, dark jeans and a golden jacket grabbed a cloth from beside him.
"Nico," Apollo said quietly, the boy nodded as I looked at him.
I glanced down to my hands, Apollo then began to speak, "Perce, there was a monster in the camp. I guess he got to you as we fought, must have knocked you out in one hit or something."
The god of truth lies to you. Isn't that so silly?
I sat up and glanced around the room, lies. Lies?
It's silly to assume something so weak and pathetic as a monster could of gotten into camp.
I had a sudden memory of a bull charging into camp, I raced up the hill with another boy wearing a tie dye shirt and shorts. I was running. . . trying to help someone but I have no idea who it was.
"Perce?" Apollo asked me, "Are you staying with us?"
I thought for a second, "You said you would give me answers."
He smiled tightly, "I did, didn't I?"
"Well then," I asked, my voice giving out, "why are you lying to me?"
He just paused with that tight smile on his face, he was a deer caught in headlights.
Hey, I remembered that expression!
But, that also meant that he was lying to me. And given the fact that it has been 5 seconds of him not saying a word I really caught him off guard.
"Oh," he whispered, "yes. I probably. . . Shouldn't behave like your father. . . Should I?"
I nodded as I studied him closely, Nico silently cleaned the blood off of my hands. I almost glanced at my hands to see just how much blood was on them, but Apollo quickly grabbed the sides of my face.
"Huh?" I asked, face flushed.
"Uhm. . . I need to tell you things! And. . . To prove to you, that I am not entirely lying, look into my eyes!" He yelled at me with a face just as red as mine.
"Uh. . . Okay?" I said and let out an embarrassed laugh.
The door creaked open, my eyes flickered to see who had stepped through the door.
Which reminded me that I am not in the woods anymore.
He was tall, young looking and had blonde hair.
I felt as if I knew him. . . But not in the way of Nico or Chiron. It felt sort of felt like something other than just knowing him had happened.
He stared at me with wide blue eyes, I stared back at him. My eyes suddenly spotted the scar that ran down beside his eye, my eyes followed the chalky white scar down its full length.
"Oh my fucking gods," he cursed out loud.
"Oh thank god your here, I promised to give Perce some answers and I really don't think I could have explained everything by myself," Apollo praised.
Nico looked at him with a raised eyebrow, "Did you get the herbs? And did you loose Will on your way here or something?"
The boy looked at me, "No, I didn't. Chiron wanted to speak with him."
Apollo grumbled to us, "Ordering my hunters around? I don't care if he taught them in the past, they don't take orders from him, or anyone who isn't in the hunt, at all!"
"Whoa," the boy said, finally pulling his gaze away from me, "I told Will that he should just come back, but he told me that somebody had to tell Poseidon that Perce's okay."
"We don't care about that, now, Luke get Nico some more cloths before he bleeds them over. We'll talk then," Apollo declared to the boy named Luke.
He nodded and left the three of us alone in the room. I examined Nico a little further, he looked at me and gave a small smile.
"I'm glad that you're awake," he told me.
I smiled back to the boy, "Thanks. Me too."
