"What's wrong? Where are you?" Something was very wrong and I could sense it.
"I'm at my house. I need you to call 911 for me." Not a car accident. What happened?!
"Lilliana what's wrong?"
"I don't have time Lance. My address..." Her voice grew small. "My... file. Hurry."
"Lilliana? Are you still there? Lilliana! LANA!?" I slammed my fist against the wall. I swung the door open, Oliver and Aiden looked at me in confusion. I pointed my finger at Oliver.
"You stay by his side and you better not leave. Not even to go to the bathroom. I mean it! I need to do something." Before either one could respond I left. I ran down to the receptionists desk.
"Sir is everything alright?" I had skipped the elevator and ran down the stairs, skipping multiples on my way down.
"I need to see Dr. Eylers file again." I panted.
"Sir, I really don't think I can give it to you again. It has her personal informa-
"I wasn't asking." I leaned in closer and stared her down. She ducked her head and scurried off. I was antsy and I waited. It felt like and eternity had passed when she came back.
I snatched the file from her hands and read it hungrily. I found her address. I flipped the file around to show the woman.
"Call the hospital closest to this address. Send an ambulance there immediately." She looked at me in confusion. "Just do it! Please!" I was getting anxious. I had tried to call her back but she wasn't picking up.
"Ambulance is on the way sir." I asked her what hospital she would be sent to and I rushed over there as fast as I could. It was a little over an hour drive there, but I planned it make it much shorter than that.
I did well over the speed limit, making it there within forty minutes. I went to the hospital first. I parked my car and ran inside.
"Has a woman named Lilliana Eyler been admitted into this hospital?" I panted to a nearby doctor. I noticed his name tag, Dr. Tockley.
"Yes... she's in rough shape though."
"What happened to her?"
"...I'm afraid I'm not allowed to tell you. Only family can know and you-
"I am Lance Moretti. I would like to know what happened to her, Dr. Tockley. " I stepped closer. He was scared.
"She was attacked. We don't know who did it yet but we are hoping to get an answer when she wakes up."
"When will that be?"
"... We aren't sure. She is in a coma right now. She has a SEVERE concussion and has a skull fracture. It doesn't look too good for her." My chest felt heavy after hearing that.
"Are the police investigating the case?"
"Yes. They are already at her house." I swallowed hard.
"May I see her?"
"...Of course Mr. Moretti." He led me to the intensive care unit to a door at the end of the hall. "Just... be warned when you see her, she is in ICU for a reason." I nodded. He walked away and I entered the room slowly.
I stared at the ground while I opened the door and closed it. I didn't know why, but I was scared. I walked over to her bedside before looking at her. The doctor was right.
They had wrapped her upper head in bandages, blood was coming through. There were small cuts on her cheek and arms. A black eye and a busted lip. I could only imagine the damage done to her head.
I gently held her hand. I noticed bruises on her neck.
This bastard tried choking her too?"I will find who did this to you Lana. I will find them and I will give them ten folds of the harm they did to you. They will never get away with this. Don't die on me, you're special to me. " I whispered into her ear.
I stayed there a few more minutes before leaving. It makes sense why she has no family here, her parents are dead and she's an only child. It didn't explain why she had no other relatives here. I got in my car, put her address in my GPS and drove to her place.
Cops flooded the scene, running to and fro. They looked like busy ants. I pulled near the curb. She had a nice house. I got out and started to go near the scene.
"I'm sorry sir, this is a crime scene. I cannot let you pass." An officer shorter than me with dark brown hair had stopped me.
"Mmhh. That's nice, I'm still going."
"Sir, I need you to leave. You are not permitted to pass this line." I looked down at the yellow crime scene tap. I took a hold of it and ripped it in two.
"Oh lookie there! There's no line! Sir, do you even know who you are talking to? I'm Lance Moretti and I know the woman who got attacked. So if you will not let me in, I will do so myself." He nodded in fear, letting me pass him. I went up the front steps of the porch, I noticed blood on the white wood.
The door had a couple dents in it, along with scuff marks. It looked like she was trying to keep the intruder out.
She probably didn't know who her attacker was then.
I stepped inside, there was blood all over the floor. I closed my eyes and covered my mouth.
They will pay.
There was a broken vase on the ground, there was blood on it too. They had marked there they found her body. She was found face down with her phone near her.
If I hadn't called... would they have found her in time?
The police concluded that the blood leading out the door was not Lilliana's and sent it for testing. Nothing else in the house was disturbed, just the foyer. The police searched for fingerprints that could help identify the intruder. Our best bet would be Lilliana. If she could recall what happened, we would be able to catch who did this to her.
And whoever did this, would die a long and painful death.
Wow! So much happening!!
