"D-don't touch him James. Please I'm begging you. Do what you want to me, just don't hurt him." He loosely slid the knife down to his neck. Aiden began to hyperventilate, looking down at the knife, then me.
"What would happen if I don't do what you ask? Hmm?" He dragged the knife back up to Aidens cheek.
"Please James. Don't-
He took the knife and cut Aidens cheek. He screamed in agony.
"AIDEN! GET YOUR HANDS OFF HIM!" He dropped the knife, got up and walked over to me.
"Okay. How's this then?" He grabbed another knife out of his boot. He smiled wickedly then stabbed my thigh, leaving the knife in place. I screamed. Pain seared through my leg, I refused to cry.
"Is... that all... you got?" I looked up at him, smiling. His grin faded. I would not allow him to break me. I would never give him the satisfaction of torturing me.
"Fine. I'll be back, I need to get something." He walked away, leaving through a wooden door. I took a few deep breaths.
"Aiden, the knife. He dropped a knife near you. You have to get it and cut the ropes." He had to survive no matter what.
"I-I can't grab it though. My hands there-
"I know buddy. Grab it with your foot, bring it up to your mouth, grab it and get it in your hands. From there, cut like crazy."
"What about you?" He began to squirm, trying to get the knife.
"Don't worry about me. Just get yourself out of here." He stopped.
"What. About. You?"
There is no way I can get him to leave without me. I'm sorry bud, it's game time.
"It's a race. I'm giving you a head start. Once you get untied, run, leaving me. I'll give you a five minute head start once you are untied. Where ever you end up going, I'll meet you there. I'll be right behind you, I promise. Whoever gets there first wins. Now hurry." He looked puzzled.
"You promise?!" He began to go for the knife again.
"Yes. Now hurry bud, and take your shoes off. It will help." I watched as he took his shoes off and twisted his body to grab the knife. He brought the knife up to his mouth, clenching it. Looking up, he was able to grab it with his hands and start cutting. Just like I instructed.
"I'm free, let me help-
"NO! Don't ever help your opponent. Run. I'll be right behind you. Run Aiden, like you've never run before." He paused. "Run Aiden. I love you, be safe. Take the knife with you. Stab anyone who tries to harm you." He nodded and ran out the wooden door.
I tried rocking my chair back and forth, stupid bastard tied it to a post. Nothing worked. I couldn't break loose no matter how hard I tried.
"Well, well, well!" I froze at James' voice. "I'm impressed, making sure the boy left, leaving you behind. Don't worry, I didn't harm him, I let him go. However, if he would've helped you, I would've had to kill him. Wouldn't be the first time you and I killed someone!"
"W-what?! What do you mean 'not the first time?'"
"Well since your are going to die anyways, might as well tell you."
"Tell me what?"
"Let's just say, Coles death was no accident and you're to blame!"
"Coles death was not my fault. Don't blame it on me. I lost a friend, my lover that day, I don't need to be reminded."
