(2001, Smallville) Allie's POV
"Clark, we're gonna be late for the bus!" I yell upstairs.
"Coming Allie!" he shouts back. I roll my eyes and pack our lunches. He comes into the kitchen and takes the milk bottle out of the fridge. He goes to drink from it and mum tells him off. "It tastes better out of the bottle" he whines as he goes to get a glass.
"Where'd you learn your manners?" mum asks him.
"On a farm" we answer together and high five. Dad enters the house.
"Well, afternoon, sleepyhead" he says to Clark. He takes the bottle of milk from mum and drinks from it. As Clark starts to have his breakfast.
"Oh, don't forget -- I have class tonight, so you two are on your own, and don't order pizza. There's plenty of food in the fridge" mum tells us.
"Don't worry Mum, I'll make sure we have a proper dinner" I assure her. She gives me a grateful smile. Clark looks at his permission slip to join the football team.
"Hey, what you got there, son?" Dad asks him curious.
"Permission slip. It's for the football team. Couple of spots opened up. They're having tryouts this afternoon" Clark explains.
"Come on, dad. You played football in high school" I remind him.
"That was different" he tells me.
"Why?" Clark and I ask him.
"You know why" he reminds us.
"I figure I'll run at half speed, and I won't hit anybody" Clark tells him.
"Lot of things can happen in the heat of the game, son" dad tells him. Then has a sip of his morning coffee.
"Most new guys hardly even play. Chances are I'll ride the bench half the season. Dad, I can be careful" Clark tells him
"I know that you can be careful, but what if there's an accident?" dad asks him. Clark says nothing. "Look, uh... Clark, I know this has got to be really hard for you, but you got to just hang in there like we promised" he tells him.
"I'm sick of hanging in there. All I want to do is go through high school without being a total loser" Clark tells him.
"Come on Clark, or we'll miss the bus" I tell him. He sighs takes his bag and we leave the house. We start to walk to the bus stop. But we see the bus leave and we'd missed it. "Give me a ride?" I ask Clark hopeful.
"Sure hop on" he says with a smile. I take his bag and hop onto his back. I hold on tight as he runs to school like a blur. Through the corn fields. We arrive at school and I hop off handing him his bag. We approach our best friends Chloe and Pete. Who are talking about the dance.
"Hi, guys" I say with a smile and they look at us surprised.
"Wha-- uh, didn't you just -- weren't you" Chloe says looking confused.
"We took a short cut" Clark tells her.
"Through what? A black hole?" she asks us.
"Maybe" I say with a smile.
"Allie, Clark... you have to excuse our intrepid reporter. Seems as though her weird-ar is on DefCon 5" Pete tells us.
"Just because everyone else chooses to ignore the strange things that happen in this leafy little hamlet doesn't mean that they don't happen" Chloe tells him.
"Now, you know we'd love to join you and Scooby inside the mystery machine for another zany adventure, but we got to hand in these permission slips before homeroom" Pete states.
