Chapter fifty seven :. Old ruins of Bane
Ophelia Valdez POV
In this world, secrets lurked in every shadow, and blood stained the earth. Terror, death, pain, and sorrow walked hand in hand, while love, happiness, and grief struggled to survive. Envy, peace, jealousy, wickedness, and evil all played their part in the grand symphony of life. But amidst it all, one thing stood out as the most feared and vicious: War.
No matter the kind of fight - supernatural or not - War left deep scars that never fully healed. We were living in a time where survival was the only currency that mattered. Every decision, every action, was driven by the primal urge to stay alive.
And that's exactly why we were here, standing at the entrance of the forbidden lands, the ruins of Bane. A place where creatures entered but never returned. The fog swirled around us, casting an eerie mist over the abyss.
"This is it," I whispered, my voice barely audible over the howling wind. "The entrance to the shadow weaver's domain."
According to legend, the shadow weaver was a deity summoned during times of war to aid those who called upon him. But the price of his aid was steep, and those who dared to summon him did so at their own peril.
"I should go," Linda said, her voice firm but laced with a hint of trepidation.
I turned to her, my eyes locking onto hers. "No, if you go, I go."
We stood there for a moment, the only sound the wind rustling through the fog. Then, without another word, we stepped forward, into the unknown. , We may never come back.
As we walked deeper into the fog, the air grew colder and the silence thicker. I could feel eyes watching us, boring into our skin, and I shivered.
Suddenly, the fog parted, and we found ourselves standing at the edge of a vast, dark chamber. The ceiling disappeared into darkness, and the walls were lined with ancient stone carvings.
In the center of the room, a figure sat on a throne-like chair, shrouded in shadows. The air around him seemed to ripple and distort, as if reality itself was bending to accommodate his presence.
"Welcome, Ophelia and Linda," he said, his voice low and hypnotic. "I have been waiting for you."
I swallowed hard, my heart pounding in my chest. We had finally found the shadow weaver, and now, we had to face him.
"What do you want from us?" Linda asked, her voice steady despite the fear that lurked beneath.
The shadow weaver leaned forward, his eyes glinting in the dim light. "I want to show you the true meaning of power," he said, his voice dripping with malevolence.
And with that, the room began to spin, and I felt myself being pulled into a vortex of darkness.
" We want power to change the tide of the war, evil has risen too much , we are the uprising and we plan to subdue it ". Linda's voice was steady as the ground shook
The shadow weaver's eyes gleamed with excitement. "A life for power," he repeated. "Very well. I can give you the power to change the tide of the war. But it will cost you...a life."
Linda's eyes met mine, and I saw a fierce determination burning within them. "I'll do it," she said, her voice firm. "I'll trade my life for the power to change the tide of the war."
I felt a surge of panic and grabbed Linda's arm, trying to pull her back. "No, Linda, don't!" I exclaimed. "We can find another way, am suppose to protect you ". I pleaded
But Linda shook me off, her eyes flashing with a fierce light. "I've made up my mind, Ophelia," she said. "I'm willing to give my life for this. We can't keep running and hiding. We need to take a stand."
The shadow weaver's eyes gleamed with excitement. "Very well," he said. "Linda's life will be the payment. I already know you are facing the king of darkness but i have the power to change wars .But I will grant her 48 hours to live. In that time, she can use the power I give her to change the tide of the war. But when the 48 hours are up, her life will be forfeit, no magic , no spell , no prayer can bring it back , be warned ".
Linda nodded, a fierce determination burning within her. "I accept," she said.
The shadow weaver raised his hand, and a dark energy began to swirl around Linda. I felt a surge of fear, knowing that I was about to lose my friend.
But Linda just smiled at me, a fierce glint in her eye. "I'll make it count, Ophelia," she said. "I'll change the tide of the war, no matter what it takes."
And with that, the dark energy enveloped her, and Linda's eyes blazed with a newfound power.
The ground below us gave out and we were suddenly back to the outskirts of the druid kingdom.
"Alright, here's the plan," Linda said, her eyes gleaming with determination. "We're going to get Bruce and then gather our forces. We'll head straight for the Lay Lines and then to the human world, where we'll face our enemies head-on."
" Let's kill those bastards "
" Challenge accepted ". I smiled
