Izetta's POV
I ran back to the main control room, wanting to join my comrades. Loki had unsettled me more than I cared to admit. I wanted to be around good people, people I could trust. At least I'd be safer with them than standing around with that maniac. Somehow, I found a shortcut and I managed to get there even before Tony and Director Fury. It also helped that I was faster when running on all fours.
I transformed back as I arrived. I had a special spell I'd remembered from when I was imprisoned. It allowed me to absorb the materials of my clothing through my crystal and then recreate them instantaneously when I needed them again. It was very simple but quite useful.
Of course, as soon as I arrived, Tony wasn't far behind me. I listened as they talked. Well, more accurately, I should say I listened as the adults argued with each other while loosely working together at times.
"I think it's about the mechanics." Dr. Banner started, getting back onto the subject of the portal. "Iridium? What do they need the iridium for?"
"It's a stabilizing agent." Tony jumped in. He turned and said something to Agent Coulson before continuing on explain to everyone else. "In fact, I think Izetta has got this one. Izetta?" I grinned.
"It means the portal won't collapse in on itself!" I stated confidently.
"Correct. It will work this time, unlike it did back at S.H.I.E.L.D." He walked up to Thor. "No hard feelings, Point Break. You gotta mean swing." I chuckled while Tony kept talking a mile a minute, as usual. "Also, it means the portal can open as wide and stay open as long as Loki wants." He turned to direct the crew. I snickered as he kept going. "Uh, raise the mizzenmast. Jib the topsails." Always so clever. He pointed over to somebody. "That man is playing Galaga! Thought we wouldn't notice, but we did." He covered one eye. "How does Fury even see these?"
"He turns."
"Sounds exhausting." He started messing with the screens. "The rest of the raw materials, Agent Barton can get his hands on pretty easily. The only major component he still needs is..." Tony paused, turning to me.
"Oh! I know it, I know it! He needs a power source! One of high-density energy to kickstart the Tesseract and the portal!"
"Very good, I'm impressed. Keep it up, Tailwind." I smiled happily, proud of myself.
"When did you two become experts in thermonuclear astrophysics?"
"Last night. We went over it together. I mostly quizzed Izetta through the whole thing."
"It was from the packet of Selvig's notes and extraction theory papers! Tony helped me read through and understand it!"
"And she picks it up faster than a bullet. Are we the only ones that did the reading?"
"Does Loki need any particular kind of power source?" Rogers asked.
"He would have to heat the Cube to 120-million Kelvin just to break through the Coulomb barrier." Tony nodded.
"Unless Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect."
"Well, if he could do that, he could achieve heavy-ion fusion at any reactor on the planet." Banner replied.
"Finally, someone who speaks English," Tony said, walking up and shaking his hand.
"Is that what just happened?" Rogers asked.
"You have to learn fast with Tony," I explained as Tony greeted Dr. Banner.
"It's good to meet you, Dr.Banner. This is my protege, Miss Izetta Lynn Inora. She's catching up with people like us."
