Izetta's POV
I made it back to my room and got ready for bed. However, as I was sleeping, the world around me began to shift and change. I woke up in a strange place. I didn't understand it, but I felt like I'd been there before. Then I heard the sound of two men fighting. I turned and saw them clash. I was stunned. One was yelling at the other, clearly infuriated about something.
"How dare you try to use her as a weapon!? Do you plan to do with her the same you tried with me!?" They clashed again.
"No...I plan to use her for more." For some reason...I knew I'd seen this before.
"You're a monster, Malekith! You have always been!" The second man grinned.
"Well, if I'm a monster," I suddenly saw him swing his weapon and disarm the first before stabbing him straight through his chest. I gasped, horrified by this. "then you have been and will forever be known...as a fool."
I gasped as I woke up back in my bedroom. I looked around, making sure that I was actually safe back in Asgard before knowing what I had to do. There was one person I wanted to talk to. Well, wanted was a bit of an exaggeration, but...I felt like he would know more than Odin would about what I saw.
I hadn't spoken with him since my first night in Asgard, so this was going to be...unexpected. I made sure to stay out of sight of the guards. I didn't want to be bothered and I really didn't want to be brought to Odin. I headed down, slipping silently through the shadows and heading down into the dark corridors that held the person I needed to see.
I silently crept toward his cell. I had to admit, I was nervous. I expected that time in there had only fueled his anger. Plus, if Frigga's words were anything to go off of, I didn't think he would've been happy to see me. It was clear he didn't like visitors. I just hoped I'd be able to get something out of him this time. My last two times hadn't ended well, so I didn't have high hopes for this time either, to be honest.
I crept into view and I saw him laying back on the bed. He was just...laying there. For a second, I wondered if he was asleep, but I saw that his eyes were open and I knew I couldn't put it off any longer.
I cleared my throat as I walked into view. His head turned and I said nothing for a second. I gave him a semi-kind and semi-awkward smile as I sat down, my tail curling around my talons as I kept my form straight and proper. I didn't want to show any hint of fear or worry. And now that I was bigger in this form, I wondered if maybe I was actually a little intimidating. Of course, I knew I was more nervous around him than he was around me. I had to admit, I was afraid of what I might learn. I also knew to take his words with a grain of salt. This wasn't exactly a person who was great at honesty.
He sat up and met my gaze. Neither of us said anything. He stood up and walked over to me. He still said nothing. It seemed like both of us didn't really know what to say. I was surprised he hadn't said anything, honestly. Usually, he always had something smart in his word bank. I took my chance to speak first, wanting to try and start off on a calm note at the very least.
"...Well...you don't look any different from the last time I saw you, so I guess that's something," I said, joking a little. He looked at me, confused and somewhat surprised.
"...What are you doing here? Get lost again or do you just wish to bother me because you couldn't sleep." I stopped. "Don't act surprised. It wasn't hard to guess why you were really up back then. And it's no different now, is it?" I sighed.
"Still acting like you're better, I see."
"I am better." He insisted. "Now, what could you possibly want from me?" I didn't back down. I wasn't afraid of him specifically, but he did still have a tone that could make anybody uneasy at times. I also knew he was going to try that with me, but I wasn't going to give him much satisfaction this time.
"...Remember the last two times I tried to sneak up on you? What I asked? Why I was there?" He looked interested. Then, he grinned and even laughed a little. I couldn't say I didn't expect him to react like this.
"Still don't know who we are, do we?" I glared at him a little.
"I came so you could finally answer me. Back at the tower, what did you see, Loki?" He looked away, chuckling somewhat smugly to himself. "What do you know about me?" He looked up at me, opening his mouth to say something, but pausing for a moment before he actually spoke.
"And why would I answer that this time? Third time's a charm isn't exactly true, you know. Besides, I thought you believed that the information I gained was a lie. Or rather, I lied about gaining any information at all, hmm?" My gaze hardened.
"Look, I think both of us would prefer not to get anyone else involved in this, especially Odin, so, are you going to keep playing coy or give me some answers?" I asked. He paused. "Besides, I think if someone can understand wanting the truth...in this case, I actually don't know somebody better than you." Our gazes were locked together as I said that.
"...Trying to get my sympathy?" I smiled a little, letting out a single laugh through my nose.
"No. I know that's not really your thing," I told him. "I'm just saying...we have something in common. But that should sound familiar, shouldn't it?" He smirked a little.
"It looks like someone has grown since last we spoke." I shrugged.
"Sorry to say it wasn't you. Would've been nice to have a proper conversation with you. Maybe you could end up getting my empathy. But, you're not really one to want that from someone like me, are you?"
"You seem to be taking steps backward if you wish to hear the truth."
"Am I? Or are you just dragging this out, Loki?" His grin fell.
"...Where did you learn how to do this?" I sat tall.
"You know, when someone gets in your head for some reason, their words aren't the only thing you remember." He looked a little taken aback. I shrugged with a small smile. "You could say, I learned from the best."
"...I saw two worlds. One of them was filled with life and the other was barren. I know not what realms they were, but I do know one thing," He said, walking forward and standing right in front of me, the force field of power now becoming the only thing that separated us. "you were the reason." I didn't understand, but I still felt a sense of fear inside myself at his words. "You were the cause of everything that happened. I know not exactly what it was, for your mind was too clouded to reach it, but everything that happened, every area you ended up at...was because you were something that never should've been." I took a step back, not wanting to believe him. "At least, that's how it sounded."
I felt my chest tighten. Something about his words scared me to my core. I didn't want to know if he was right, but I wanted to find out what he was talking about all the same. I didn't know what to say, but it wasn't long before I heard Thor calling for me from somewhere far away. Odin had taught me how to converse with others without actually being near them. I could hear his calls for me from the end of the bridge. I frowned. I looked back up at Loki.
"...Is that all you saw?" He grinned.
"You'll have to get your answers somewhere else, my dear. That much even I can assure you is the truth." My gaze hardened again. I began to leave, but I stopped. Something inside me was telling me to say it. I wanted to say it, even if I didn't know why. It could've been because of Frigga's example, but I wasn't sure that was it either. There was still something about him that drew me in. I didn't want to admit it, but that had started from the first moment we met.
"...Thank you, Loki." That was the first time I saw a genuine look of surprise on his face. I actually gave him a real smile this time. "I guess you can be honest after all." He looked like he wanted to say something, but I left before he could, hurrying off to reach Thor. Knowing that he needed me made me realize that something was wrong, and I had to find out what it was.
