Loki's POV

Over the next few months, my brother kept really trying to help me. I talked to him at night sometimes, telling him about the dreams I had of her. Some of them were nightmares, yes, but they'd started to change recently. Yes, the first few had been about how different things would've been had I not gained any affection for her. But now it was starting to shift. It was almost like it was a memory, but it wasn't at the same time.

As my brother and I sat down together that night, myself having asked him if he would be willing to listen once more, I began to tell him what I'd seen. This one had been very different. It'd had more detail, but something about it had struck me in a way I hadn't been expecting.

*In the dream...*

This time, I woke up back at Asgard. I was confused as to why I was home and in my own room. I got up and I dressed myself before I began to look around. As I traveled around the palace, I noticed that there was absolutely no one around.

As I began to leave and look around our home, I noticed the same thing. Everyone was gone. I felt uncomfortable. Seeing our home so barren felt wrong. Wondering if something was going on where we had to leave like before, I made my way along the bridge toward the Bifrost. My heart was troubled as I found that not even Heimdall was standing watch.

However, there was something going on. The Bifrost was just barely powered on. It seemed as if it were broken, but it still had enough energy to create a pathway to another realm. Which one? I had no idea. Still, I decided to see if that's where everyone had gone.

I stepped into the Bifrost just before it ran out of energy. I was transported to a realm I didn't recognize at first, but then my memory returned once I saw the great tree ahead of me. I didn't understand how this was possible.

"Alfheim? But...it can't have brought me here. Alfheim is inaccessible by all accounts..." I looked around. "And they would know if people tried to enter. The Light would alert them and the Bifrost's power would be reflected. I should've been thrown back to Asgard. So...what happened here? What happened at all?"

I headed toward the tree, keeping an eye out for Varick and Fawn. They should've been around the tree at this time of day. It was nearly lunchtime, from what I could tell. They never missed meals unless it was important.

"Varick? Fawn? Is anyone here?" I called into the tree, but there was no answer. However, something was different. The trunk had a glowing spotted line on it, seemingly as if it were a painted pathway. I followed it all the way to the top of the tree. I had never been to the very top before.

The room of crystals was magnificent, but it didn't answer any of my questions. Suddenly, an energy force closed the way back. I couldn't leave. I was both frightened and curious. Only time would tell which emotion was correct in this situation.

I walked forward as I saw that there was a hollowed-out hole in the tree straight ahead. It was glowing brighter and shifting between two colors: a bright lime green, and a very vivid teal-ish blue. I was stunned as I suddenly saw water intentionally floating around it. It was as if it was trying to tell me that there was something in it.

I came closer reached out as my fingers barely brushed the small floating stream of water. Suddenly, I was engulfed in it. I could feel my heartbeat increase rapidly, more so than I thought possible. It was pounding in my chest so fast. I couldn't breathe and I could barely think. There was a great force against my chest before there was such a bright flash of light.

Then I seemed to wake up again. I was confused as I saw that I was nowhere I recognized. But then there was fire. There was so much fire everywhere. I kept running trying to escape it, but it was no use. However, the second the flames touched my skin, everything stopped.
