"Did you lure her here? What kind of spell did you put on her!?"
"GUYS!" I shouted before I could stop myself. I paused for a second, thinking of what to say. "I got lost trying to find somewhere I could get a snack."
"Very lost," Loki commented. I ignored him.
"Loki tried to tell me how to get back, but...knowing your brother I wasn't sure if he was telling the truth. So I decided to wait here," I explained, telling a tiny lie. Thor turned back to his brother.
"Is that true?" He looked at me for a moment.
"...You really think I would want to spend time with a creature like that?" He asked. Thor backed off for a moment.
"Take her to my father. We need to be sure she's not under any sort of spell." As his friends started to take me away, I looked back as Thor turned back to his brother.
"If I ever find that you have done something to her, I swear there will be no place you will find safety from my wrath. That is a promise, Brother." I frowned, feeling a little bad. I mean, he was nice to me that time. And we'd honestly been having fun.
Loki said nothing, but his eyes met mine again as I was taken away. Odin used his power to check me over and declared that nothing had been done to me. I was relieved that Loki hadn't gotten in more trouble over my stupid failed snack run. Then, I stopped. Why am I relieved about that? Why did I help him?
"Bring me the prisoner! I have decided on his sentence." I was stunned. I was taken out of the room, but I didn't want to leave. I wanted to know what was going to happen. I asked a guard which way I could find a bathroom. He told me where to go and I thanked him. I walked away, but then I waited until I saw him leave and I went back to the door to listen to what was going to happen.
Loki's POV
I was brought to see Odin, as I expected. Even though I hid it well, I couldn't get what that girl had done for me out of my head. It was minor, yes, but why? Why would she lie for me of all people? It didn't make any sort of sense.
As I was brought to face Odin, Mother spoke up beside me. "Loki."
"Hello, Mother," I greeted. "Have I made you proud?"
"Please, don't make this worse." I paused.
"Define 'worse'," I asked.
"Enough," Odin spoke up. "I will speak to the prisoner alone." She left and I watched her go before looking back up at the old man on the throne. I walked up toward him, but I couldn't help but laugh.
"I really don't see what all the fuss is about."
"Do you not truly feel the gravity of your crimes?" He began. "Wherever you go, there is war, ruin, and death."
"I went down to Midgard to rule the people of Earth as a benevolent god," I replied. "Just like you."
"We are not gods. We're born, we live, we die, just as humans do."
"Give or take five thousand years."
"All this because Loki desires a throne."
"It is my birthright."
"Your birthright was to die!" He snapped back at me. "As a child cast out onto a frozen rock." I said nothing, but I could feel an emotion inside me that I knew I hated. I tried to ignore the pain it caused, telling myself it didn't matter, but it didn't go away. "If I had not taken you in, you would not be here now to hate me."
"If I am for the act, then for mercy's sake just swing it. It's not that I don't love our little talks it's just...I don't love them."
"Frigga is the only reason you're still alive and you will never see her again. You will spend the rest of your days...in the dungeon."
"And what of Thor?" I asked, still in disbelief of this. "You'll make that witless oaf king while I rot in chains?"
"Thor must strive to undo the damage you have done while also being responsible for the turmoil you have caused in his young friend, bringing order to the Nine Realms, and then, yes, he will be king." I was taken away, but I heard him call out to someone else. "Izetta." I turned, wanting to see.
I saw her walk in, looking nervous. She gave a shy smile to Odin and he nodded to her. "Your curiosity is strong, young one."
"Sorry..."
"Don't worry, child. You will learn. Now, you must stand tall and prepare yourself."
"Prepare, Sir?" I saw him walk down as she stood before him.
"Izetta Lynn Inora-Stark, you have been brought here to become a warrior and to learn who you are meant to be. As the King of Asgard, I ask you," He began. I saw something in her that only made the pain inside of me worse, but I knew not what it was. "do you swear to use all that you learn, all that you are, and all that you will be to protect the Nine Realms alongside my son and his comrades?" I saw her smile. There was a fire in her eyes, but it was unlike one I'd seen before.
"I do, Sir!"
"Then, from this day forth, you will be known as the newest protector of the Nine Realms." She chuckled.
"I can't wait to get started."
