"This feeling we share could be many things. I wish I could truly know what it was. All I know is that you, a most unlikely creature to exist in all the nine realms...have become someone I don't enjoy being without."

"So, how's Loki?" I asked her. I had caught her multiple times using her powers to talk to him. I knew that it was hard for her to see him like this. She still cared so much about him, so I wanted to be nice. I promised her I wouldn't tell Odin and she was thankful that I was willing to listen to her. I actually asked her how the spell was done, so she had taught me how to use my water in a similar way since the spells she knew were a little different than what I could cast. Still, the main point was giving her an outlet to talk more freely about her troublemaking son.
"I'm afraid we had a quarrel today..." She sighed. I frowned.
"What happened?"
"Well, he commented about the prisoners you and Thor brought in, even though he mentioned Odin instead. I asked him if he'd been reading the books I'd sent, but he had his comments, as always. He said he didn't want to spend the rest of eternity reading his life away."
"Well, there are worse ways to pass the time, in my opinion." Frigga chuckled a little at my joke. I was happy to make her smile.
"We talked, and he asked if his father shared my concern for him. He was rather snide about it. One thing led to another, and I tried to reason with him, but the moment I called Odin his father..." She sighed again. "I don't know how much else I can do for him. I've tried to show him how loved he really is, but he always denies it and turns me away. He can see people so clearly, but he cannot see himself."
"...I'm sorry, Your Majesty."
"No, it's not your fault. I am thankful for your help in bringing him home, however hard seeing him like this can be."
"Well...maybe if you just keep trying? I mean, nobody can be angry forever, can they?"
"I'm afraid you don't know much about my husband or my son." She said with a teasing tone. I was glad she was mostly joking. "But you are right. That is the hope I hold in my heart." We sat down near the water fountain. "You know, he has asked me about you in the past."
"Really?"
"Oh yes. While each time he's acted bitter when asking about your progress, I know he's interested."
"He probably just wants to gauge how slow I'm progressing."
"My son has many curiosities too, you know. You both are more alike than you realize." I paused, those words resonating within me. I'd heard Loki say that to me before, but I doubted he actually believed it.
"I don't know. I doubt he'd ever want me around anyway. I mean, no offense, but look at what happened today with you?"
"Well...if there's one thing I've learned with my son, it's to be ready for the unexpected. And to always know what is expected. His surprises can be all over the place. I always keep an eye out for them."
"Well, I guess I have to take your word for it then."
After a while of walking and talking, we both were called away. There was going to be a celebration, apparently. I didn't know what it was for, but I was told to get ready. I said goodbye to the Queen and headed to my room to get dressed and do my hair.
