Chapter 29

"And then we must be off," I added, deciding not to comment on that.

"Right. Let's move people!"

??? POV

*Sometime Later...*

"...Izetta!!" There was so much darkness. It was impossible to think, but I could still hear a voice. I could hear a voice trying to call me out of the darkness. "Please, my friend! You are more than this!!"

"Thor...?" I tried to speak, but it was only in my mind. At least, it felt that way. Was I speaking? I didn't know.

"My friend, fight it! You must remember who you are!" My vision cleared a bit. I could see him, but everything else was a blur of red and black. I felt tears on my face.

"...I don't know who I am..."

"Yes, you do!" I looked up at him, scared. "You are a warrior of Asgard!" I was shaking. "You are one of the strongest people I have ever met." He walked closer. "You are an Avenger, fighting for a world that you and I both love."

"...I-I..." I felt the Aether trying to gain control. "I-I'm not...s-strong enough, Thor..." I whimpered. "I was wrong..."

"You were not," He stated firmly. "You are not just a weapon, Izetta, nor a creature of chance. You are blessed. You are gifted. You are so much more than any single person or world could understand." I felt my crystal start to glow. "You are a goddess, you are the daughter of Tony Stark, you are a loving person who puts others before herself," I stopped shaking. "and you are my friend who I know would never hurt me." I felt the light inside me fighting back. I stood tall.

"I'm even more than that," I said, starting to smile. "I'm whatever the hell I want to be." Thor smiled back. "And I am free to decide that for myself." I reared up, gathering as much light power as I could and using it on myself. I could feel the Aether weakening and trying to fight back. I roared loudly. "You will not take me!!" I dispelled it, shattering it once more before falling to the ground. Thor rushed to my side.

"Izetta!" I stood up, panting. I smiled at him.

"I'm stronger than I look," I told him. He smiled, patting me on the back.

"Welcome back, my friend." We turned as we saw the Aether retreat into Malekith. "Now...care to help me finish this?" I stood tall as we faced him together.

"It would be my pleasure."

We fought together, but I was suddenly teleported somewhere else. It took a minute to find another portal, but Thor and Malekith were gone when I did. "Why am I the one keeping track of this goon!?" It wasn't long before they reappeared. "Wonder if it works kinda like Beatlejuice..."

I hurried forward, but I saw that it was only Malekith. I growled. "Hey!!" He turned. "You missed one, creep!" He turned and I continued to fight, holding him off and keeping him busy. This guy's tougher than he looks! He knocked me down and I groaned, trying to regain my footing.

"You are a fool, girl. You should've stuck with the Aether...you may have survived." He unleashed it and I couldn't fight through it. It was too strong. I had to escape. I ran out, but I saw Thor pass by me.

"Thor!"

"Make sure they're safe!" He called. I was worried, but I rushed off to find Jane and Dr. Selvig. I found Jane soon enough.

"Are you okay-?" I barely finished the sentence before the Aether suddenly vanished. I looked around.

"Where's Thor?" Jane asked. I guided her back and we hurried to find him. "Thor!"

"Thor! Can you hear us!?" We saw him unconscious on the ground and hurried over. The ship was falling right toward us! Jane tried to pull him, but all of her friends were around too. It wouldn't have made a difference. They would all die unless I destroyed it. I leaped into the air, ready to do what I could, but my powers had been used up so much that I barely had any energy left.

"Izetta!" I heard Dr. Selvig. "Push it back! Into the portal!" I saw there was once behind us. I growled and slammed into it, pushing with all my might. I forced it to fall back and it fell away, disappearing into the portal and ending the fight once and for all. "Is everyone okay?" He asked. I laughed as Thor woke up.

"Define 'okay'!" I called, landing back down and padding back over to Thor and Jane. "Now that was some serious madness!" I told him. He smiled.

"I suppose it may run in the family." I smiled, but then I realized something. I looked around.

"Wait...where's Loki?" Jane frowned, looking away.

"Izetta..."  The tone of her voice told me enough. I felt horror and then sadness. "He's gone." Thor sat up.

"He sacrificed himself...for me." I saw the pain in his gaze. "For Frigga." My body felt numb and cold.

"...I should've been there."

"No, it was not your fault. You were taken by the Aether." I looked up at him.

"...I'm sorry." He studied my gaze for a moment.

"So am I."
