Mark knows.

He knows what the younger has been up to, how Donghyuck follows him from time to time. He wanted to stop and turn around to say something to the tanned male, but he continued walking home. He didn't want to deal with any drama right now.

He just wanted to go home and forget the annoying kid that bothers him everyday. Seriously, does he not get the hint? Apparently not as Donghyuck just continues to antagonize him.

He stepped inside his house as a little boy runs up to him to give him a tight hug, his four year old little brother Yejun.

Mark flashed a smile as he lifted the small boy up in his arms after removing his sneakers.

"Were you being good at daycare?" Mark questioned his younger brother who nodded rapidly. "Good. Are mom and dad home?"

"No, out," Yejun replied and Mark mumbled incoherent curses underneath his breath.

That meant that Yejun was home alone, again. His parents would pick the little boy up from daycare and drop him off at home. Staying extra hours at the daycare meant spending more money. And it wasn't like his parents didn't have the money to do so, in fact they were living pretty decently, but they just didn't care as they spent their money on unnecessary things

Mark would rather Yejun stay at home either way, only if he was present with him, because of the way Yejun arrives home at times. The small boy had came home multiple times with some type of injury, whether it be a cut or bruise. It didn't sit right with Mark at all.

"Markie, booboo," Yejun lifted his shirt, revealing a couple bruises on his hip.

The older was angry, fuming actually, but he tried his best to keep himself contained for the sake of his younger brother. First his parents just leave Yejun home alone and now he has bruises on his body.

"How did that happen?" Mark asked in a calm manner, carrying the little boy to the kitchen counter and setting him down so that he can grab an ice pack.

"Table said 'boom!'" Yejun responded, clapping his hands together as a gesture meaning that he bumped into a table.

"Let's be more careful, okay?" Mark ordered, even though he didn't buy a single word his little brother was saying. Everything just seemed a little too suspicious that he'd come home with bruises multiple times a week.

He lifted Yejun's shirt over his head and pressed the small froggy ice pack he found in the freezer against the little boy's hip, the younger not even flinching from the cold item as he was already used to it from being hurt all the time.

After several minutes of doing that, Mark set up a warm bath for the little boy and placed him inside the bubble filled bathtub. Yejun smiled widely as he splashed the water with his hands, giggles escaping his lips.

Mark smiled at the sight. He wishes he could give his younger brother a better life than he's living right now. But despite everything he and Yejun has been through, which was a lot, he continues to smile and that never fails to make Mark's heart clench at the thought of his baby brother hiding his true emotions.

Their parents were barely home and Mark would only see them sometimes late in the evening. The older wouldn't say they were terrible parents because he's sure that there are people who have it way worse than him. But his parents are always out either working or drinking and clubbing, leaving Mark alone with the responsibility of taking care of his baby brother, not that he minded anyway though. They were just careless when it came to their children, they only cared about themselves.

"Are you hungry, buddy?" Mark asked while he wrapped Yejun up in a towel and the little boy nodded his head.

After drying and dressing the little boy, he carried Yejun to the kitchen again, placing him on the ground to play with the magnets on the fridge while he searched for any source food he could make or snack on. But there were none. Their parents barely go out grocery shopping because they're always feeding themselves at the clubs and restaurants they go to, leaving their children behind at home with no food.

After looking a bit more, the only things Mark found were a loaf of bread, a peanut butter jar, and a jug of milk. The older sighed as he threw a few slices of bread in the toaster.

"I shouldn't have thrown away those damn pocky sticks," Mark muttered, meanwhile Yejun was clueless at the fact that they didn't have much food and continued playing with his magnets.

The tanned male woke up the loud banging outside his room door. He groaned as he stood up and opened it, revealing his angry best friend.

"Damn, who pissed in your food this morning?" Donghyuck spoke while rubbing his eyes, his voice raspy as he had just woken up.

"Shut the hell up! You're going to be late and miss the bus again!" Renjun scolded the younger who looked at the clock on top of his nightstand, his eyes widening.

Just like Renjun had predicted Donghyuck being late for school again yesterday, it happened.

"Oh crap!" Donghyuck scurried around his room to get ready, throwing on his school uniform and brushing his teeth quickly.

Renjun had already left Donghyuck's room, leaving the younger to get ready by himself as the bus was to arrive in two minutes. Donghyuck slid his shoes on and made sure to grab his phone and bag before running out the door, not before planting a quick kiss on his parents cheeks of course.

He ran as fast as he could to the bus stop, but as soon as he arrived the bus had already left. Donghyuck slapped his hand to his forehead and suddenly he jumped when he heard a car horn. He turned around to see a person with sunglasses rolling down their window, one arm on the door while the other gripping the steering wheel.

"Get in, loser," Donghyuck's best friend demanded and Donghyuck was never more relieved than ever to remember that Renjun had his driver's license.

He lunged his way to the passenger seat and buckled his seatbelt in before Renjun took off.

"Thanks, Junnie! I owe you big time!" Donghyuck thanked and Renjun clicked his tongue.

"You said that over two hundreds times already and I'm still waiting," Renjun sassed and Donghyuck only smiled.

"Then I'll repay you with a hug for two hundred days!" Donghyuck clapped his hands and Renjun rolled his eyes playfully at his best friend.

"Like you don't hug me everyday already," Renjun stated and Donghyuck smirked.

"Would you rather a kiss on the cheek?"

"So like I was saying, a hug would be delightful," Renjun said as Donghyuck laughed along their way to school.
