t - 17 days
chaewon glanced down at her wrist for the hundredth time that day. just over a week had passed since the one month mark, so now her wrist sported a neat black "17 days" in her soulmate's handwriting.
looking at the tattoo everyday for many years, the girl couldn't believe how close she was to meeting her soulmate. up until now, chaewon always thought she would be happy for the day to come but she wasn't very sure what she felt at the moment.
happy? nervous? scared? excited? sad that she wouldn't be able to wake up to the excitement of seeing a different number written on her skin. maybe it was a mixture of all, honestly she felt that she would never find the answer to that question.
"chaewon? chaewooooon. yah, kang chaewon!" the said girl glanced up at the sound of her friends calling her name.
"we know you are interested in when you'll meet your soulmate, but you're really looking at your wrist more than usual today." said hana, one of chaewon's closest friends besides minji.
"your wrist might detach itself from you if you keep looking at it like that, gosh" mumbled minji, making hana snort on her milkshake.
"hey chaewon, how much time do you have left on that thing anyways?"
hearing this minji smirked while looking at her best friend. "you might want to set your drink aside for this one."
"17 days" chaewon let out, sounding calmer than she was on the inside.
just as minji had expected, hana had continued drinking her milkshake and now it was sprayed all over the girl's shirt. not even bothered by the chocolate shake on her jacket, hana gaped at chaewon pointing her finger loosely.
shaking out of her daze, "YOU HAVE LESS THAN A MONTH UNTIL YOU MEET YOUR SOULMATE? AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TELLI- WHAT AM I TO YOU AM I NOT A FRIEND?? MINJI ISTG IF YOU KNEW TOO" hana yelled, definitely gaining the attention of several other customers, who she quickly apologized to.
"yea i did know, after all i am chaewon's certified wifey" minji proudly stated while stealing a fry from her so called "wifey".
"i leave for one week and all this happens" hana sighed, making the other two chuckle. "and i'm not supposed to meet my soulmate for another 3 years" the girl started banging her head on the table while groaning.
and for the three girls the rest of the day continued with a lot of friendly bickering on the path of going broke from buying too much food and plushies.

"omg. omg. omg. jisung you're gonna meet your soulmate in seventeen daysssss" chenle shook the younger boy, causing him to groan. chenle rolled his eyes and jumped up and down on jisung's bed, further annoying the boy.
"well obviously chenle that how this whole thing works. the days obviously aren't going to increase. besides, i don't even want to meet this person so why are you so excited? now go away i want to sleep" jisung said while trying to push his friend onto the ground.
"i'm excited because it's your soulmate. the one who's going to be with you for the rest of your life." chenle explained, still shaking the boy to get up.
"bullshit. now please shut up and leave, thank you"
"too bad i'm not leaving," chenle smiled as jisung slowly sat himself up, still with a sleepy look on his face. stretching, he pressed the button on his bedside table that called in his butler.
"you know i hate you, right?" jisung said, throwing a pillow at chenle, making the boy scream when it hit him.
"yes, i do. i think i'm going to die if you don't love me, dear prince" the older boy dramatically put his hand on his head and fell back, resulting in him being in a weird position on the floor as jisung laughed.
just as jisung was about to tease chenle, his butler walked in. mr. lim, the butler, was a laid back man who let things slide if jisung misbehaved but still cared for his well being, something the boy greatly appreciated him for.
"you called, master park?" the man said shortly, standing straight right in front of the door.
"ayyy! mr. lim my mannn," chenle cheered waving his hands in the air, mr. lim attempting to copy the same gesture.
"oh um, i just wanted to say that chenle and i will be coming down to the kitchen to eat after i get ready. also how many times do i have to tell you not to use that name, it sounds weird coming out of your mouth." jisung replied to the man's question, making him not.
"of course, i'll make sure there is food prepared for you, mas- excuse me, jisung. sorry, it's just a habit i can't get rid of, i'll try harder." jisung smiled at the man as he smiled back and began turning towards the door.
just as mr. lim was about to exit the room, chenle's loud voice stopped him.
"JISUNG'S GONNA MEET HIS SOULMATE IN 17 DAYS-" chenle's voice was stopped as jisung clapped his hand against his friend's mouth. "way to say a useless piece of information." he said rolling his eyes.
"17 DAYS?!" mr. lim slipped out of his usually calm demeanor for a second, shocking the boys and even himself. he cleared his throat before speaking again, "excuse me chenle, did you just say 17 days as in a week and a half?"
"yea-" chenle was interrupted, yet again by jisung.
"it's not that big of a deal."
mr. lim smacked his forehead at jisung's statement. "boy, no offense but you're going to meet your soulmate in 17 days how is that not a big deal? i think you're being stupid, again no offense." jisung sat in shock listening to mr. lim calling him, the prince stupid, while chenle had started laughing.
"i know you don't want a soulmate, but this really is a big deal. first of all, meeting this person is going to change your life forever. and secondly, this may not be important to you jisung, but this might be important to your soulmate. please don't disappoint them."
"you know, he does have a point there jisung." chenle spoke, finally not getting interrupted.
"ugh, why are you guys being so serious. it's really not a big deal. i don't care if they're disappointed. besides, knowing the people that live here, they're probably going to be head over heels for me after seeing this beautiful face of mine and the amount of money in my bank." jisung walked off into the bathroom, leaving the other two sighing in his bedroom.
"is he for real right now, chenle?" mr. lim said with a laugh, amused by how jisung felt about reaching the end of the timer on his wrist.
"i have no idea what to say at this point," chenle replied, softly smiling at the butler as he exited the room.
