now the next day, the pair were heading to school ten minutes later than they were supposed to. sleeping in so late together led them to stay up much past the reasonable time to go to bed.
"holy shit, what if we get caught? we can't go now, let's skip. pleaseeeee," chaewon pleaded as they approached the campus.
"we won't get caught. no one's awake enough to pay attention to which entrance you're walking in from."
as a response chaewon grumbled, pushing herself closer to her seat. lately she was starting to rethink if she even liked this whole soulmate thing. it wasn't that she didn't like jisung, but the fact she had to wake up earlier in the morning to make it to school.
as usual jisung's car was allowed through the gates without an issue. he pulled into a parking spot and turned off the car, waiting for chaewon to exit the car first. they'd noticed that the moment jisung stepped into campus all eyes were on the entrance he went through.
chaewon slipped through the entrance while jisung pretended to fumble through his bag for something. he was grateful that he could finally be separated from the girl. it wasn't hate anymore, but rather the fact that he clearly remembered the situation from yesterday.
acting as though he'd found what he needed in his bag, jisung followed the steps chaewon took, spotting the girl's back a couple yards ahead. she turned her head and gave her soulmate a subtle wave the second she heard the gasps of his fangirls behind her. this small action impacted the boy more than the numerous compliments and glances he was receiving from the rest of the school.
a minute later chenle was next to him, smirking more than usual.
"i swear to god, chenle."
"what?"

"chaewon, where were you yesterday?" asked jiah, a classmate of the said girl the second she stepped into her class.
"i- um, just felt a bit under the weather, that's all!" she hoped she'd stop talking to her so she wouldn't have to come up with a series of more lies, but not to her surprise she stayed to chat more.
"you know, chaewon, you missed a perfect day! the prince wasn't here either so there wasn't really interesting to see anyways. isn't he so handsome?!" two other girls with jiah entered a fit of giggles at the mention of jisung.
'i thought this girl was normal...'
"oh, mhmm" chaewon lost more interest in the conversation she was having with the girl next to her.
"oh my god, seyeon was telling me about how some girl entered school with jisung! did you hear about that? doesn't he have his soulmate they're searching for or something?" gossiping made the girl's voice go 5 octaves higher than it already was.
"jiah, didn't that happen like 10 minutes ago... how do you know?" another classmates voice was heard from the row behind them.
"a lot of people are talking about it. apparently he smiled at her!"
