the prince of korea nearly suffered a heart attack as he stepped out of the bathroom the next morning. luckily he survived, so don't worry folks.
the scene in front of jisung as he entered his bedroom was a predicament he never thought he'd be in. mr lim was standing at the doorway looking straight at the girl in his room, and the girl was looking straight back, but it didn't seem she was fully awake.
"jisung, is this who i think it is?" jisung wasn't sure he'd rather this be some random girl from a club instead of chaewon.
"i'm taking your silence as a yes. nice to meet you, miss. i'm just jisung's caretaker so don't worry," mr. lim smiled at chaewon.
"caretaker...?" as confused and sleepy she was, she sent a smile back.
jisung was quick to send a glare at the old man then butt in, "he was my caretaker. now he's kind of just there, i don't know. mr lim i'll explain the situation outside since we kinda need to close the door."
without wasting another second, said man sent another smile to chaewon and left the room with jisung following. "okay jisung, explain. why is the girl you want nothing to do with, hiding in your bedroom?"
"my father's people were following her so chenle brought her here. she's friends with him or something. actually we were gonna head over to her apartment to grab her stuff today."
mr. lim nodded slowly, smiling to himself which confused jisung.
"why are you smiling? nothing's gonna hap-"
"go get ready jisung, it's almost noon."
♚
for the second time that day, jisung walked out of his bathroom to see chaewon and mr. lim in his bedroom, but this time talking. it looked like they were way past the introduction, seeing that they were laughing together.
perhaps jisung was feeling a bit too jealous over a married old guy getting along with his soulmate better than him? he couldn't figure out why he had a scowl growing on his face, and he refused to admit to any feelings. from chaewon's point of view jisung didn't look any different, so did it even matter?
not even bothering to change his sour expression, jisung walked up to chaewon and grabbed her arm, lifting her to her feet without much effort.
"come on, we need to go. chenle texted me." he tried his best to avoid her widened eyes and especially the look on mr. lim's face. he almost failed.
jisung didn't realize he was still clutching onto chaewon's forearm until after they got out of the palace grounds and saw the look on chenle's face. immediately, he released the girls arm and walked quickly into the car.
the drive to chae's apartment was fairly short, since she lived right by the palace. she'd moved there recently to go to university in that area, but never did she realize that her soulmate was a 5-minute drive away, living in the biggest residence in the country.
chenle handed the other two masks before they stepped out of the car as the place was quite a busy area. chaewon lead the way into her apartment and she found it kind of bizarre that she was leading around the prince and the son of one of the richest families in china. life is full of surprises, huh?
yet another surprise was that the elevators were broken and the group had to walk up all the way up to the 5th floor. the walk there was quiet, since others were passing up and down. by the end of it, the three knew that they never wanted to see another flight of stairs in their lives.
chaewon lived in a fairly new complex in the area and her apartment was definitely comfortable. the two bedrooms and one bath didn't seem so nice after being inside the palace. the square footage of this entire place was probably the size of jisung's bedroom.
"wow, this is a nice place." chaewon could not believe those words were coming out of chenle's mouth. this was the same guy who practically lived at the palace.
"oh, thanks. do you guys want any water or food?"
when she came back from her kitchen holding two glasses of water her eyes fell to where jisung's were. he was staring at the giant teddy bear placed at the corner of the room on some random stool. was that too childish? 'this is embarrassing...'
"jisung stop looking at that bear like you're going to kidnap it." chenle noticed the two looking at the bear and completely ignoring him.
"but it's so cute..." he mumbled, looking from the glass of water chaewon handed him to the bear. then he looked from the bear to chaewon a couple of times, like he wanted to say something. chenle had never seen jisung act like this, so it was amusing to say the least.
"where'd you get that big bear?" jisung avoided eye contact by frantically looking around the room. there went his cold demeanor.
"what-" chaewon paused half in shock and half to look at chenle holding in a laugh, "oh uh, i think my brother gave me that for our birthday...?"
"you have a twin?" chenle had to speak up to fix the awkward silence that filled up the room.
"yeah, we actually have the same birthday as... him." she pointed quickly at jisung who still hadn't recovered from the awkwardness. addressing the prince by just his first name was just plain weird
♚
about 20 minutes later, chaewon was fully ready with her bag packed with a week's worth of things. they had discussed it, and jisung and chenle said they would take care of whatever she had to do with school and work for the time being.
before they headed down to the car, they decided that they'd just wait until the elevator was fixed to leave so that gave them another hour to do practically nothing in chaewon's apartment.
"wait i have a question," chaewon said after a while of scrolling on their phones. chenle responded with a small hum and jisung just looked up, not knowing if that was directed at him.
"why do i even have to hide in the first place? like what happens if they find out i'm your soulmate, anyways?"
in quite honesty, jisung did not know. knowing his father, he would probably do something dramatic over this. it could go either good or bad.
"i don't know, just to keep you safe from the public. if my father finds out he'd either announce it, or word would just spread anyways. i'm barely safe from random girls crushing on me so it'd be worse for you."
that had to be a record for the amount of words jisung said to chaewon, but she didn't even realize as she processed his words. she was fated for a long ass ride wasn't she?
