Season 1 Episode 3: Next of Kin
Vivienne glared down at the cliff. "I really really hate bouncy houses." She said as she got out of the engine with Buck and Chim. Buck gave her a look. "How do you not like bouncy houses?" He asked her as they walked towards the edge of the cliff. "I just don't. This proves why." She sassed him. Buck smirked and Chim fake gags at the two. He regretted riding in the engine with Vivienne and Buck, who were playfully flirting with one another even if the two didn't notice. They got to the edge of the cliff and assessed the situation. "Adult male, down, on the hillside. We got three kids in a bouncy house." Vivienne said over the radio as her and Buck look over the hillside.
"All right, we're gonna station the trucks on that service road. Gracie, I want you, Hen, and Buck to rappel down, anchor that bouncy house. Assess the condition of those kids, start to send them down one-by-one in a basket. I'll take care of the dad. Chimney, you're gonna stay up here and work the winch." Bobby tells them what they were gonna do. "Hey, how come I never get to do any of the fun stuff?" Chimney asked him. "Working the winch is fun." Bobby said as they all got geared up.
Once they had on their harnesses, Vivienne went to check Buck's to make sure it was on right. Hen and Bobby double checked theirs. The Nash girl went to do hers, but Buck beat her to it. He sent her a smile, which she returned. They all went and lined up and got ready to make their way down. She was on the far side with Buck next to her. She moved down first heading for the bouncy house to secure it. She saw where it was caught on a rock, she clipped it and secured it. She radioed Chimney. "Bouncy house is secured, Chim." She tells him. "Copied." He responded. "Hey guys! We're LA Fire and Rescue. We're gonna get you out of here, okay? Everybody, just stay calm." Buck tells the boys as he got the net open. "Hey boys, can you tell if your friend here is okay? Is he awake? Is he breathing?" Hen asked the boys. Both of them shook their heads. "Lower the basket down, Chim." Buck radioed him. "We're gonna get that first kid out, Vi you take him down." Hen said softly. Vivienne nods her head. "Is my dad, okay?" One of the boys asked them. "Chim a little lower." Buck said as Vivienne moved towards the unconscious boy and got a neck brace on. "Alright, that's it. Nice and easy, nice and easy. Alright, basket coming in, Vivi." Buck tells her. Hen helped Vivienne get the kid in the basket when they heard Buck over the comms. "Vivi is going down with one kid." He said. "Boys come on, let's go now!" Hen told them, making the kids move. "Hen is right behind Vivi, ready to go. Chim we're good take me down." Buck said to Chim.
After the call, the team went back to the station. Vivienne walks over to Buck. "Hey, how are you holding up since the other day?" She asked him as they walked over to the lockers. He smiled at her. "Doing better than before. How are you?" Buck asked as they sat down on the bench. "Better. Been talking to Chim and my dad about it." Vivienne said to him as they sat next to each other. Buck frowned. "You didn't want to talk to me?" He asked her softly. Vivienne turned to look at him. "I just didn't want to upset you, Ev. I knew how hard it was on you." Vivienne said to him softly. Buck just looked at her. "You could've talked to me about it, Vivi. I wouldn't have minded. You're my best friend!" He told her. She frowned at the word friend but didn't let him see it. Meanwhile, Bobby, Hen, and Chim were up in the kitchen area. Bobby went to start cooking, he looked down and saw Buck and his daughter sitting close together and frowned a bit. Chimney and Hen noticed him frowning. "What's wrong cap?" Chimney asked him. Bobby looked away from his daughter and newest recruit. "What? Nothing's wrong." He said as he went to make something. Hen smirked and went to see what was happening. She saw how close Buck and Vivienne were sitting close together. "Are you mad that Vi is getting close to Buck?" Hen asked him. Bobby looked at her. "No." He lied to her. Chimney looked at him. "You just lied to her." Chimney said with a gleeful look on his face. Buck and Vivienne arrived in the kitchen. "Who just lied?" Vivienne asked her best friend. Bobby, Hen, and Chimney all looked at each other. "No one, sunshine." Chimney told his best friend.
