Season 3 Episode 1: Kids Today

Its been three months since the ladder truck incident and Vivienne Nash was back at work. Her ankle and hip were completely heal and she had passed her recertification test. Her relationship with Eddie Diaz was going strong and so was her bond with his son, Christopher. She spent time with Evan 'Buck' Buckley as he healed. She was currently in the fire house getting prepared for a call. "Kid's car is moving like a runaway freight train, but they got a plan to slow him down before he crashes." Vivienne's father, Bobby Nash, said to the team. "So we're on cleanup duty?" Vivienne's best friend/coworker Howard "Chimney" Han asked. "Not exactly." Bobby said to him as they got into the engine. 

"They're clearing a stretch of Woodley Avenue. We'll meet them there." Bobby tells the team. "How fast is he goin?" Vivienne's other best friend Henrietta "Hen" Wilson asked. "105. Once he gets to Woodley Avenue, he'll hit the breaks, hope he slows down a little. That's where we come in." Bobby explains to them. "That's a vintage car." Chimney informed them. "Worried about damaging a classic, Chim?" Eddie asked him. "He's more likely worried about damaging a kid. Airbags weren't standard until the '80s." Vivienne tells her boyfriend. "A car that old, we're lucky it has a shoulder harness." Hen tells them. "If they get it down to 60 or 70, you know..." Eddie's voice trails off. " I like his chances better." Chimney said to him. "I do too." Vivienne agreed with her best friend. "What kind of crazy person came up with this plan?" Hen asked as Vivienne smirked at her. "I love my mother." Vivienne said as she giggles. 

After a couple of minutes, her dad spoke again. "Ready guys?" He said to the team. "Yeah, dad." Vivienne tells her father. They started to slow down and everyone took a deep breathe. The truck jerked as the car hit them from behind. Eddie grabbed a hold of Vivienne so she wouldn't go anywhere. Everyone got out of the truck and began to help the kid. Vivienne went with Hen and Chimney to make sure the kid didn't break any bones. After checking, she walks back over to the car with Eddie and found what the problem was. Vivienne reaches down and grabbed the gear shift. 

"There'll be an investigation to determine what caused the car to malfunction." Athena said to the boys father. Vivienne and Eddie walk over to her. "I'd call it a loose clutch." Vivienne smirked at her mother. "It looks like the gearshift broke clean under the boot." Eddie added with a smile. "Throttle must've gotten stuck wide open from the linkage break." Bobby said with a proud smile on his face. "Wait, how's the car? Can it be fixed?" The kid asked them. "Here, something to remember it by." Eddie said as he handed the father the clutch. "Hey, you know. I heard there's a Testarossa coming up for auction soon. What do you say we get that instead?" The father said to his son. "Does it have airbags?" The kid asked causing Vivienne and the father to laugh.  They loaded him up into the ambulance. Athena looks over at Vivienne, Eddie, and Bobby. "Kids today." Athena said as Vivienne smiles. 

A couple days later, everyone was at Bobby and Athena's for the welcome back party for Buck. "Is everything good? Does it look good? It needs to look amazing." Vivienne asked as she ran around making sure everything was ready for Buck. "Viv, honey, it's amazing. Please go sit down before you overexert yourself." Athena tells her daughter. Vivienne nodded her head. "Okay, I'll do that. Thanks, Mom." Vivienne tells her mother. She goes to sit by Eddie and Christopher. "We're not late, are we?"Hen asked them as Vivienne smiles at her, Karen, and Denny. "The guest of honor hasn't arrived yet." Michael tells them as he laughs. "I'd hate an opportunity to cry." Karen tells him. Vivienne smiles over at Denny. "Denny!" Vivienne said as she stood up to greet her godson. "Hey Aunt Viv." Denny said as he gave his godmother a hug.  "How are you? You doing good in school?" Vivienne asked him. "Yea, I am. Straight A's so far." Denny tells her with a smile. "That's awesome." Vivienne said as he goes off to meet Harry.
