→What the fuck? Was the first thought that sprung into my mind.
This guy had officially lost it.
I was so close to catching him myself, and now he's threatening to arrange some dumbass meeting with me, in exchange for the safety of Jaewook and the people of Korea.
I looked at the following pictures attached, some were of Jaewook, strapped to a chair, some type of white fabric over his mouth, hands tied.
I shuddered lightly, not Jaewook. Out of everyone, and it had to be Jaewook. It's almost as if he knew that I was the closest with Jaewook.
But surely it was just a mere coincidence.
God, this guy was annoying as hell.
The letter additionally stated that I was supposed to be dropped off at the address on a certain date. So it's not like I could simply pull up right now.
I wouldn't be able to anyways, I was a little tired, and if Jake's plan was to try and ambush me with men, I had to ensure I was energised.
"Hikari, this is a life or death matter. You must tell me, do you want to go down there, or not." Yongpil looked at me, the look in his eyes told me he didn't really want me to go there.
But I viewed this differently.
"I do. And I will." I assertively responded. The room flowed with uncomfortable, tense silence. Everybody was probably on thin ice right now, and were all panicking.
Everybody but me.
"Hikari, please don't be so abrupt, think about this fir-" Yongpil tried to convince me again, but the letter stated, if not me, then Jaewook and everybody else.
"I'm serious Yongpil. I'm going." I corrected him, everybody in the room had their eyes glued onto me, does nobody take a woman seriously anymore?
I got so far into this case, and like I said earlier, I refuse to back out. If I back out, it'll ruin my streak of continual shut down cases.
God, but I'm going to have to face Jake, and not as my little nurse persona anymore. As my real, agent 003 persona.
And there's not a single doubt that he will make me talk to him, or even, reveal my identity to him.
"Fine. We'll reinforce your uniform even further, and top up your guns, so for now, go home and get a very good rest Hikari. This country depends on you right now." Yongpil gave a small sigh, shaking his head as he looked down.
"Meeting adjourned." He added, to which everyone else began leaving after me.
-
I relaxed at home for a little while, but a question came into mind.
Would Jake be at the club right now? Or preparing his idea for my demise at his house?
I didn't know, and decided to test the theory. I changed relatively quick - it was like a habit now - and as I opened my door, I looked to my feet, on my doormat.
There lay another, thornless, leaf-less, rose.
I crouched down, picking it up and twirling it around in my grasp. Again, where the hell did this come from.
Only one man came to mind, yet how come he managed to do this without me even noticing him.
Was he even remotely aware that I was literally Agent 003, or was he still completely clueless?
If I were him, I'd suspect me one hundred percent, but then again, who knows. I am pretty convincing and my appearance makes me quite deceitful.
I placed the rose somewhere inside, and then proceeded to head out, looking for only one guy out of many.
I approached the bar, and damn, this guy really had no issues in life, clearly, if he was here again. I mean, I suppose same could be said for me.
In a few days, I'll be in his house, and he has no idea.
I sat beside him, the bartender not even saying a word to me, but preparing my drink.
Jake turned his head slowly, his face much colder in expression, almost like a brick wall.
"You're here." Jake hummed to himself, even his voice was stoic in nature, damn, never seen him like this before.
"Are you the one leaving the roses at my doorstep?" I spoke, taking a small sip of my drink as he let out a quiet laugh.
"Oh look, you caught me." Jake's jaw clenched lightly. Could this guy seriously not put two and two together? There's no way he was this gigantic mafia boss and he couldn't conclude that I was Agent 003.
"What's the need of that?" I asked him, not because I wanted him to stop, but just out of curiosity.
"I missed you - so I thought that by seeing the roses, you'd come and see me." Jake suddenly confessed, and I had a hard time swallowing my drink.
This fine ass man, just told me he missed me, and he's my number one target.
I stared at his side profile, my heart beating the hell out of my chest, even more so as he turned his head to look at me, a light smile coming from him.
Fuck.
