With a sudden start, Milly woke up.
She was still alive.
Jin instantly rushed to her side and checked up on her.
Milly gently stopped his fussing, assuring him that she was okay. "I'm sorry I scared you, I just couldn't hold on any longer. It was like instinct to jump after him." She patted his arm.
"But I'm okay now."
Jin sighed and slumped back in relief.
"I don't recommend being that reckless and dying yourself though. There is always a chance you won't wake back up. Besides, you actually die and feel the pain just the same." The way Milly talked about it was almost like making a joke. But Jin grasped the seriousness of it.
"Well I won't, I don't have nine lives like you, after all." He joked back.
They laughed the previous horrors away for just a moment.
"But Milly," Jin looked into her eyes, "no more jumping off buildings."
Milly smiled at him, "I promise!"

The two of them had been discussing what to do next when Milly came up with an idea.
"Maybe we could visit Namjoon later into the night. There won't be as many customers and, if we're lucky, his boss won't be there either."
Jin was thinking for a second, running his hands through his hair.
It was totally not distracting Milly...
Jin agreed it was worth a shot and stood up to grab some drinks. They were happy they had some time to unwind and just to talk about normal stuff.
The time passed quickly, as they were having fun.
"We should go." Jin said as he noticed the time.
The both of them got ready and left for the gas station.
And just like that, it was back to being serious.

"I'll stay back a little this time." Milly stated as the gas station came into view.
There was no one around, the streets were deserted. Except for the lonely figure next to the gas pumps.
It was Namjoon.
Sniffing the air, Milly smelled the familiar scent of a forest with some earthy tones.
Jin hesitated, he'd rather have Milly by his side. Nevertheless, he gathered his courage and approached him.
"Namjoon"
A familiar silence enveloped the two males.
"Jin"
Well, this conversation was going great...
"How are you?" Jin decided to switch up his tactic.
Not well-received, listening to the huff that followed from Namjoon.
"Why do you care?" He snapped at Jin.
"Because I care about you and the others." Jin answered honestly.
"Great job of showing it. With you disappearing like that and all." The sarcasm was dripping from his words. "And there are no 'others' anymore."
Jin frowned at him. "What do you mean?"
Namjoon glared at Jin. "What I mean is that everything was done for the moment you left. We fell apart and went our own ways."
Although it was saddening to hear, Milly made a mental note of it. It was a good clue in her opinion.
But her thoughts were interrupted by her sense of danger. Wildly, Milly looked around for the source. Then, she spotted it.
Namjoon was lighting up a cigarette.

"It's not like you to smoke." Jin commented as he watched his friend, blind to the alarm bells going off in Milly's head.
"You don't know me, Jin. Not anymore." Namjoon's voice was calm, but anyone could hear the bitterness behind it.
At the same time, Milly was now sprinting toward them both.
Namjoon was dropping the cigarette.
Milly shouted at them, "Jin! Namjoon, get back quickly!"
Namjoon looked up, bewildered.
Jin was also shocked but reacted fast, having learned not to question her in moments like this.
Namjoon didn't move from his spot, just questioning why a random girl was yelling at him. Jin managed to grab his sleeve and pulled him back a little.
At this point, Milly's instincts had kicked back in and had taken over control. Her cat eyes flicked to the burning cigarette falling on the ground. With all of her strength, she launched herself at Namjoon, who looked at her with wide eyes.
In his defence, he saw a female stranger, who had just shouted at him mind you, make a jump for him.
Milly pushed him on his chest, and Namjoon in turn bumped into Jin. Both boys stumbled back just as the cigarette reached the gas pumps.

Fire exploded with such force that it blasted the males back and onto the ground. They were fairly unharmed.
Milly was less lucky.
The flames had licked every part of her body and launched her into the air. As she landed and rolled on the ground, Milly was no longer on fire. But the damage was done either way. She'd be screaming in pain if she had any energy to do so.
Not too far from her, Milly heard someone scream her name through the ringing in her ears.
A horrified Jin and shocked Namjoon came into her view.
The sight must've been horrible, Milly assumed as she saw their expressions.
Namjoon could easily see her cat ears and tail like this.
"No, no, no..." Jin kept muttering as he hovered his hands above Milly's body, trying to see if he could help.
"You saved me..." Namjoon was now suppressing the shakiness of his body.
"Yeah well, that's kind of the point of all of this." Milly's smile came out as a grimace. She didn't doubt the confusion Namjoon must be feeling.
The stars in the sky started to break already, so nothing really mattered.
Milly's gaze landed on a distressed Jin and tried to smile at him. As he locked eyes with her, she spoke. "Remember Jin, cats have nine lives..." It came out a little choked, as the pain was holding her back.
"And always land on their feet." Jin finished in a whisper.
Namjoon watched in silence as Milly closed her eyes.
