: Am I Going Crazy? :
Snake was having a nightmare. Well a memory. But it was a bad one.
***Flash back***
Snake jumped out of the way, betrayal flooding through him. "You told me you loved me!" he cried.
Owl scoffed. He didn't care in the slightest. "You aren't able to be loved! I never loved you, you're an idiot for thinking anyone could ever love you!"
Snake was in tears. Blood was trickling down his face from where Owl had scratched him before they started fighting. "Why did you have to claw me?!" he shrieked.
"You deserve it! You don't deserve anything you worthless piece of dirt!" Owl snarled.
Snake rushed away, tears burning in his eyes.
He almost knocked Moon Petal over.
"Snake are you ok?!" Moon Petal exclaimed, sounding very worried.
"I'm fine!" Snake snapped, pushing past him.
Moon Petal stared as Snake ran off, eyes wide.Snake looked up at the roof of his den. Why am I such a failure? I can't even get basic relationships right! I've had four mates and broke up with all of them! Owl was right. . . I'm unlovable. Snake thought miserably.
I don't even know what I want anymore. Do I even want revenge? I mean maybe Clear Sky was right to kick me out. . . Snake sighed. Why was he so determined to get revenge? How was Clear Sky different from any of the other cats who had betrayed him?
I know why. I thought about him differently. No use in denying it. I seriously need to get over it.The next morning was as boring as usual, he got up and then waited to be assigned to a patrol. Which as usual was with Clear Sky.
Snake limped at the back of the patrol as usual. He could hear Acorn Fur saying something about Slate's kits.
Slate has kits now? With who? Snake wondered.
He didn't have much time to wonder though, because Clear Sky flashed him a passive aggressive glance telling him to limp quicker.
Snake begrudgingly increased his pace. He didn't like being near Clear Sky. But oh well.
I wonder why I didn't get exiled? I guess it's partly because I saved the kits. Actually. . . Maybe It's because he thinks if he kicks me out for having a limp the other clans are going to start more problems with his clan. Snake knew that was most likely the case. He still remembered the great battle. . . Clear Sky would deserve to get attacked again though, surely? If there was another battle most cats would probably leave Clear Sky's side.
"Snake!" Clear Sky snapped.
Snake looked up. "What?"
"I've been trying to get your attention for a few minutes! Pay attention we're patrolling." Clear Sky told him impatiently.
Snake huffed. "I am paying attention."
Clear Sky gave him an incredulous look. "Sure you are."
Snake's tail twitched. He had to bite his tounge.
Why do I keep staring at him? Seriously. . . I don't understand. Snake sighed. It was almost sunset and Snake was lying in the sun.
He heard little voices and pricked his ears.
"Ask him." Dew Petal insisted.
"What if he eats us?" Tiny Branch asked.
"He won't eat us." Dew Petal huffed.
Snake looked up. "What are you three doing?" he asked in his normal tone, no irritation, no snappishness, no hate, just his actual tone. Just a normal tone with a negligible hint of sarcasm.
Flower Foot stepped forward. "Can we show you our battle moves?" she asked.
Snake raised a brow. "Why me?"
Dew Petal walked to her sisters side. "Because you're cool."
These kits are adorable. Snake knew that if the kits were complimenting him than that was what they really thought. "Oh alright then, what moves do you have?"
The kits let out excited squeals.
Dew Petal tackled Tiny Branch, the brown tom kicked her off of him, giggling excitedly.
Snake laughed. These kits were somehow cuter than any other kits he'd seen.
Flower Foot jumped on Dew Petal and the two tumbled around for a few moments. Tiny Branch pounced on his sisters, pulling them apart. Flower Foot laughed. "Ha! Dew Petal I won!"
Dew Petal let out a fake growl and leaped at her sister. Tiny Branch turned to Snake.
"I can jump. Wanna see me jump?" He asked.
Well now I feel bad because I remembered who his real father is. Eh who cares? "Sure, I'd love to see your jump."
"Yay!" Tiny Branch purred. He little kit wiggled his hind quarters and jumped, then he fell back down.
"Good jump." Snake purred.
Tiny Branch's sad look disappeared. "I know! I jump good!" he announced proudly.
Snake flicked his tail over Tiny Branch's shoulder. "Yes you do."
Snake felt eyes on him and turned. Clear Sky was watching him. Just watching. His gaze was unreadable.
Am I going crazy or does he look a tad approving? Actually I can swear he's becoming nicer to me. Snake stared back at Clear Sky. And they just stared at each other for a while. An:
