: First Steps :

Snake woke up the next morning with a light pain in his injured leg.
How lovely. Snake thought sarcastically.

Why did Clear Sky just glare at Thorn? It had been so brief. But Snake swore he had seen it. Although then again, it was Clear Sky. And Clear Sky was terrible.
"I knew you were purposely walking slower." Clear Sky muttered.
Now Snake was walking beside him. "I limp. I can't walk." retorted, accidentally using his normal tone.
Mind. Stop. Snake told himself.
"If you're limping at a walking pace you are walking." Clear Sky shot back.
"No. No I'm not." Snake disagreed. But this wasn't an argument. . . It was more or less banter.
Snake saw Thorn slowly creep further away from the other two patrol members. Not enough to be weird. But enough to be noticed by anyone paying attention.
"Yes. Do you have to argue about everything?" Clear Sky scoffed.
"This isn't even an argument. I'm limping. It's that simple." Snake was exasperated at this point. He wasn't sure what was going on. Why was Clear Sky not being a fox-heart? Was he ok?
"You're keeping pace. You. Are. Walking." Clear Sky insisted.
"By that logic you're. . ." Snake spoke before the sentence had time to finish in his head. And he definitely wasn't going to say what his mouth wanted to say.
Clear Sky raised a brow. "What? No go on finish your sentence. 'By that logic' I'm what?" If Snake didn't know any better, those words would have been playfull.
"Nothing." Snake mumbled.
"No say it." Clear Sky sounded like he was almost laughing.
Either there's something wrong with him or I'm imagining things. It was probably a mixture of both. Clear Sky was in a 'good mood' and Snake was tired.
"It's nothing. I wasn't like going to insult you or anything." Snake tried and failed to use his fake tone.
"Why would I think that? Spirits you're stupid sometimes." Clear Sky flicked his stupidly fluffy tail.
Maybe I think that because you're Clear Sky. But of course you wouldn't consider that. Snake somehow felt bad even thinking those words. It was weird. Why would he feel bad about thinking badly of someone he hated? Nothing was making sense anymore. Hating took so much energy. Snake thought that's how it worked. You hated the cats who wronged you. So why was it so difficult? It took him no effort to hate Mist, Slash or Star Flower. So why was it difficult to hate Clear Sky?

That was nice. Agh. What is this stupid feeling? I don't like it one bit. Why doesn't it just go away already?! Stupid feelings.

An:
Snake. . . Are you a lil stupid in some things? Because I think you are.
