"Bakit may ganito?"

Lumapit ako kay GM na nagtataka. Looking at the playplace, something unplanned is going on.

"I'm surprised as well. It wasn't on the schedule but last night, I got a call from Mr. San Diego Sr., giving instructions for a warm launching so I called the body team to work on this until late last night. Medyo nagkaaberya pa dahil sa brownout."

"Where's Luke? I mean, si Mr. San Diego?"

"Didn't you heard from Ms. Del Valle? He was found early this morning, unconscious in his office. Mabuti na lang napakaagang pumasok ni Elize."

"What happened? Where's Elize?" tuloy-tuloy kong tanong.

"She's still in the hospital, Mr. De Vera."

"Then we shouldn't do this. Not without Luke."

"It's alright, Sir. The CEO is expecting you to launch it. It's in fact your project. Congratulations. You deserve it," bati nito sa akin.

"And how could this be happening if the head of the foundation is absent? It's just not right. I think we really should delay this," I insist again. Trying to hide the panic in my voice.

"But Mr. San Diego Sr. said he will come. Don't worry," tapik sa akin ni GM.

How can I not be worried if Luke had an accident and I'm here doing what he's suppose to do? Something's making me uneasy. They even made a small stage and a podium.

Jeezez, what are these?

I wanted to go to Ameera. Sa tabi lang n'ya ako nare-relax. Feeling ko, sa tabi lang n'ya ako may nagagawang tama. But we're not in our normal state right now. Sa dinami-dami ng panahon, bakit ngayon pa 'ko nadulas?

"Sir Alec, here's the program," lapit ni Grace sa akin.

I set my eyes on the schedule but nothing seems to register on my head.

I decided to walk outside to get some air nang mapansin ko si Ameera na sumakay ng taxi.

"Ameera!"

I tried to catch her pero nakaandar na ang sasakyan.

Damn it!

AMEERA

"Wow. Mukhang for promotion si Sir Alec, ah. Para playplace lang, kailangan i-launch?"

"Malakas talaga si Sir Alec kay CEO. Bakit 'yan, bibigyan ng event imbes na unahin 'yung foundation, di ba? Balita ko nga kaya nag-collapse si Sir Luke dahil sa sobrang stress kasi kakompetisyon n'ya 'yan si Mr. De Vera."

Tuluyan kong nabitiwan ang pagpitik sa keyboard nang marinig ko ang nagyari kay Luke. Kanina pa 'ko nadi-distract sa naririnig kong bulung-bulungan.

Lumabas ako habang tinatawagan si Elize para walang makarinig sa akin.

"Elize... Totoo ba?"

"Ameera, oo. Nandito si Luke ngayon sa ospital. Sorry, di na ako nagka-time i-update ka."

"Saang ospital kayo? Pupuntahan kita."

"Sige. Nandito kami sa Medical City."

Agad akong bumaba ng building at pumara ng taxi.

Gusto kong pumunta ng supermarket para magpaalam kay Alec pero... Napabuntong-hininga ako.

Gusto ko munang makausap si Luke. Maari akong maging payapa once makita ko na s'ya.
