"I really hate mathematics." Alvin sighed, dropping his calculator.

"Come on, Alvin, you're only taking elementary mathematics. I'm taking additional mathematics." Jeanette tried to encourage him.

"Because, Jeanette, you are smart. I'm dumb." Alvin narrowed his eyes at the genius in front of him.

"No you're not Alvin. You're really clever, and that is proven by your sneakiness." Jeanette made a point.

"I guess that's true. When the great Alvinie wants something, he finds a way to get it." Alvin stood proudly.

"Here we go again." Jeanette rolled her eyes at him.

"Okay, back to this. No more distractions, Jeanette." Alvin scolded Jeanette, causing her to roll her eyes and shake her head again.

"This is easy. Pythagoras' Theorem, then use the Cosine Rule." Jeanette told Alvin.

"Oh, oh, I know the formula!" Alvin scribbled down the formulas and substituted the numbers.

"Bravo, Alvin! You did it!" Jeanette cheered.

"Yeah, I can't believe it was actually this easy!" Alvin agreed enthusiastically, punching in the calculations on his calculator.

"Hold on!" Jeanette snatched his calculator.

"Wha-wha-wha-what?! I'm almost there!" Alvin glared at Jeanette.

"No, hold on. Your calculator is in radian mode. It has to be in degree mode." Jeanette explained, changing the mode for him.

"What's the difference?" Alvin raised an eyebrow.

"The numbers in the question aren't in radians, and well, it does matter when you use sine, cosine, and tangent because you might get an impossible answer." Jeanette explained.

"Oh, okay, I get it." Alvin nodded his head, pressing the equal button.

"There, I think I got the answer." Alvin showed it to Jeanette.

"Yeah, I think it is too." Jeanette nodded her head.

"But let's go over it, just to be sure we didn't make..." Jeanette paused.

"Careless mistakes..." She finished, her mind wandering into thoughts about Simon.

"Alvin what's the time?!" Jeanette panicked, taking out her phone.

"It's six-thirty, why?" Alvin asked cluelessly.

"I'm suppose to meet Simon at this exact time!" Jeanette freaked out, packing her things.

"Oh, oh, so sorry to hold you back! Hey wait up!" Alvin stuffed his things into his bag.

"Come on, we have to run now." Jeanette gestured.

"Get on my skateboard instead." Alvin chuckled.

"I don't know Alvin, I've never rode on a skateboard before." Jeanette shrunk back.

"Just hold on to me, how hard is that?" Alvin questioned back with a rhetorical question, getting on his skateboard.

"Have you ever gotten into an accident on this before?" Jeanette doubtfully asked as she climbed on board and held Alvin's shoulders.

Alvin let out a cynical laugh.

"Loads of times!" He exclaimed.

"What?!?" Jeanette panicked.

"Don't worry!" Alvin assured her.

Unfortunately, before she could hop off, Alvin began speeding on the spot. Poor Jeanette frighteningly clung onto Alvin for her dear life, screaming in fear.

Meanwhile, Simon sat at the table with a disappointed look. He checked the time on his phone. It read 6.50pm. He sighed, fiddling with his thumbs as he sat motionlessly on the chair.

"Still no Jeanette?" Brittany walked out with a tray of tea.

"Still no Jeanette." Simon repeated in a sentence.

"For you and Jeanette. Just in case while revising you two get thirsty." She tried to cheer Simon up.

"I'll drink hers later." Simon remarked miserably as he picked up a cup, implying that he thought Jeanette would not even show up.

"She has to come home at some time. She isn't the type who would bail on people." Brittany looked around in search of Jeanette once more.

"Well, to be fair she did bail on Alvin when Alvin wanted to skip detention." Simon argued.

"So there's just as much of a possibility that she'd bail on me." Simon added.

"Don't worry Simon, you two love studying together. She'll be here soon." Brittany encouraged Simon to think positive.

"Okay, we're here." Alvin braked on the skateboard.

"Um, Jeanette?" Alvin looked at Jeanette's hands tightly wrapped around his waist.

Poor Jeanette was shivering in fear because of the extremely rapid ride with the dangerous daredevil.

"You can let go of me now." Alvin stated.

"Oh, right. Sorry." Jeanette slowly removed her arms, breathing deeply to calm herself down.

"Don't worry about it. I'm sorry if I sped up too fast for you." Alvin apologised.

"Oh, well it got us here five minutes faster." Jeanette looked on the bright side.

"Yeah, it did." Alvin agreed.

"Thanks Alvin." Jeanette waved shyly.

"Have a great time studying." He chuckled.

"Okay, bye." She laughed along and skipped to the treehouse.

"There's Simon." Jeanette looked up at the treehouse.

"Simon!" Jeanette ran up the treehouse.

Simon looked at her panting as she reached the porch.

"Simon, I'm so so sorry I'm late!" She apologised frantically.

"Oh, um, well, it's okay." Simon smiled at her.

"As long as you didn't forget to show up." He added.

Jeanette sighed in relief at his leniency.

"You're not mad at me?" Jeanette questioned.

"I'd never be mad at you, Jeanette." Simon shook his head.

Jeanette's heart melted at his patience with her no matter how late she was, and this time she actually deserved to be scolded for almost forgetting.

"Come on, let's get started." Simon patted on the empty seat beside him.

Jeanette slowly sat beside Simon, adjusting her messy fringe that was destroyed from riding on the skateboard with Alvin.

"Nice hairstyle." Simon remarked jokingly.

"Oh, it was Alvin. He took me here on the skateboard to be faster." Jeanette explained in embarrassment, combing her fringe down with her hands.

"What?! Are you okay?" Simon asked in concern.

"Give me your arms." He grabbed them gently, examining for scratches and bruises.

"I'm fine Simon, really. He brought me here safely." Jeanette assured Simon.

"He's been into a lot of accidents, if you didn't know." Simon informed her.

"Yeah, I do. He scared me when I asked him such a question." Jeanette chuckled.

"Let's just get on with studying." She suggested, not wanting to waste any more of Simon's time.

"Sure, of course." Simon agreed, opening his textbook.
