Jeanette walked alone to school early, and sat alone under a shady tree. She just continued to read the library book that Simon recommended, feeling emotional at the part where the two best friends in the story fight.

"Have fun at school, boys." Dave greeted the chipmunks as he dropped them off.

"I don't know if school is going to be fun today." Simon mumbled.

He caught sight of Jeanette, and the harsh memories of their fight replayed in his mind. He wanted to confront her but had second thoughts. He knew she would probably still be mad at him, so he walked on without paying attention to her. Jeanette took no notice anyway, being too absorbed into the book.

Brittany and Eleanor arrived together, deciding to leave Jeanette to herself for some time. Deep down, Brittany felt awful for partially ruining the previous night.

During lunch break, Jeanette approached Alvin at the lockers.

"Alvin? Can I talk to you?" She asked.

"Of course Jeanette, anything at all. Is this about Simon?" Alvin assumed.

"Well, yeah. Can we talk about it at a rather quiet place? I don't want to be somewhere where Simon can overhear us." Jeanette bit her lip guiltily.

"Okay." Alvin gave in.

"So what happened? Simon immediately went to bed after returning home. He didn't even shower, or anything, well until this morning so, he's clean now." Alvin remarked, causing Jeanette to giggle in the middle of her vulnerable emotions.

Her laugh died down, and she returned to her miserable state of mind, sighing.

"We kind of fought last night. And I just feel that, he was being so... He just wasn't listening to me." Jeanette confided as they sat on the grass patch.

"I don't know what Brittany was trying to do, but she was being super nosey. And then she started messing up our revision time with a radio switching songs every five seconds." Jeanette confided.

"Simon clearly did not like it. I didn't either. And I just made a comment about how better it was to be in school, and Simon, he, he just... He just threw a flip!" Jeanette threw her hands up in frustration.

"Seriously, he was such a jerk yesterday, and he walked out on me!" Jeanette was seeing red as she confided in Alvin.

"No way, he did? That is so unlike Simon." Alvin asked, taken aback.

"Yeah! I couldn't even- I skipped out on revising yesterday. I don't even feel like doing homework with him right now. I don't even feel like seeing him today. Thank goodness I don't have any classes with him today, except for last period." Jeanette cringed at the last part.

"He's your best friend, Jeanette. You gotta talk to him after some time." Alvin advised her.

"I don't even know how to face him. Why'd you think I confided in you instead of Simon himself?" Jeanette asked rhetorically.

Jeanette began thinking about Simon, and how Simon would comfort her on her dark days like a best friend should. Her eyes gleamed with tears and she began to weep.
