"There, there, Jeanette." Alvin put his hands around her shoulders.

Jeanette took off her gasses as she wiped her tears that continued to flow. Alvin rubbed her back soothingly. He was not Simon, but he knew Jeanette needed someone to be there for her.

Simon sat at a corner in the library, sighing to himself as he read a book. He wanted to talk to Jeanette, but he was afraid she would not want to talk to him. Even the book he was reading seemed boring for once. He looked out the window, catching a glimpse of Alvin and Jeanette. He returned to reading his book, until the information fully registered in his head.

"What the-" His eyes widened and he stared out the window, seeing his brother and his best friend together, and Jeanette was sobbing.

"How is it that Alvin is the one comforting her and not me? She doesn't think I'm upset about our fight too?" He thought to himself.

He frowned and grumbled, seeing Jeanette in Alvin's arms. He smacked the book close and stormed away from the spot, losing the mood to read instantly.

"So, what you're saying is that... I need to talk to him?" Jeanette asked, sniffing.

Alvin nodded his head politely, causing Jeanette to feel at ease. Alvin was not that bad, really. He was such a good friend to listen to her problems.

"Oh, okay then. I'll give it a try." Jeanette agreed reluctantly.

"Thanks Alvin." She smiled.

"There's that smile. Anytime, Jeanette." Alvin winked at her.

As Jeanette walked down the hallway, Simon was at his locker.

"Simon?" She approached, startling him slightly.

"J-Jeanette?" Simon greeted back.

"I want to talk to you, if, you're okay with that?" Jeanette asked.

Simon could not help but feel better that she wanted to talk to him.

"I was with Alvin earlier on, and, he listened to my problems."

Simon's smile began to disappear at the mention of Alvin's name. He felt an unusual type of anger.

"Alvin? Again?" Simon raised an eyebrow.

"Well, yeah, and, he advised me. Well... To-"

"He advised you?" Simon asked in disbelief.

"Yes, well..." Jeanette searched for the words to say.

"Well you won't be needing me anymore, would you?" Simon closed his locker.

"Simon, would you just listen to me?" Jeanette pleaded, tugging on his arm.

"I'm sure you'd rather talk to Alvin, wouldn't you?" He flinched away, hurting Jeanette's feelings.

He stood there, waiting for a reply. Jeanette herself felt upset at her best friend not listening to her at all. She felt like weeping again, but she did not want to be emotional over a small fight again.

"Yeah, I would. Because he listens." Jeanette replied coldly, trying to prevent tears from falling.

The message got to Simon's head and he looked at Jeanette with an astonished look and Jeanette returned him an icy look, before she bolted away from him.

Jeanette zoomed past Brittany. Brittany stared at the two friends parting in different directions. Concerned, she approached Simon.

"What happened this time?" She asked worriedly.

"W-well, i-it was kind of my fault on this." Simon scratched the back of his head guiltily.

"Well, go and talk to her then." Brittany advised.

"You think she'd really listen to me after we just argued again?" Simon asked sarcastically.

"If you're truly her best friend, you'd know the answer to that question." Brittany patted his shoulder, walking to her next class.

Simon stood there, dumbfounded by Brittany's wisdom.

"Oh and Simon..." Brittany turned around back to Simon for a moment.

"And if she's truly your best friend, whatever you think the answer is will happen." She winked and resumed walking away.

Simon reflected for a bit, and decided to search for Jeanette.
