Connor's POV

I woke up the next morning and gently moved away from (y/n) so that I wouldn't wake her. I got out of bed and went into the bathroom to change into my usual work attire. I ran my hand through my synthetic hair and left the bathroom.

Hank and (y/n) were still asleep, so I turned on the TV with very low volume and switched to the news. The news anchor was interviewing a congress woman about the amendment that was being drafted. I heard a groan and turned to see Hank shift in bed. He glanced over at me with slightly opened eyes. "What time is it?"

"It is 9:13 AM. The hotel is offering free breakfast, would you like me to go get you something?"

"Sure, Connor."

I tilted my head. "What would you like?"

"If they have waffles, that would be great."

"Got it." I stood up and went downstairs to grab coffee, waffles, and some fruit for Hank and (y/n). I noticed that I was getting a few stares as I did so, but I tried to ignore them.

I went back up upstairs with the food and handed a plate to Hank., who was fully dressed. He thanked me as I set the other plate on the side table by (y/n). I gently put a hand on her shoulder. "(y/n)? Wake up (y/n)."

She stirred and gave me annoyed moan. "Whaaaaat?"

"I brought you breakfast. You should eat before it gets cold."

She sighed and pulled herself up. I picked up the plate and handed it to her. She gave me a sleepy smile. "Thanks."

The news anchor on the TV changed to a much more serious tone. "This just in, a female police officer was murdered last night on the streets of Lansing, Michigan. Authorities are currently investigating what exactly happened and who did it. The murderer remains unknown, but we will keep you posted."

Hank, (y/n), and I all looked at each other. "Should we check there first?" Hank asked.

I nodded. "I can at least scan for any evidence that the human officers may not be able to find."

"Sounds good to me. We'll head out after we finish our food."

~Time Skip~

We arrived at the crime scene, there were police officers surrounding the scene keeping civilians out of the way. We walked up to one of them. He held his hand up to us. "Civilians are not allowed on the crime scene."

"We are detectives from the Detroit Police Department," Hank replied, showing the officer his badge. I also showed mine. "We've been tracking a run-away android and we believe he may have had a hand in this murder."

The officer glanced at my LED. "You're an android."

I nodded. "Yes. I am CyberLife's most advanced prototype. I can scan for evidence that is not visible to the human eye, such as fingerprints and evaporated thirium."

The officer called over a detective who was inspecting the body. "What is it?" he said as he walked over.

"These guys say they are detectives from Detroit."

The detective looked at us. "Ah. You must be Lieutenant Hank Anderson and Connor. I'm Detective Floyd Shaw. Your captain told us that you would be in town. Looking for a PJ500, right?"

I nodded. "That is correct."

"You can scan for evidence? Did I hear that right?"

"Yes."

"Great." He waved us over. "Come on. Do your thing."

I was shocked at how easy it was to convince him. I looked back at (y/n). "Stay here, we'll be done shortly."

She nodded. "Okay."

I went into the taped off area and scanned. Just as I suspected. Thirium. I looked at the body, her shirt still had a dark spot from the thirium. The fabric managed to keep it from evaporating as quickly as the rest. I sampled it, earning a disgusted glance from Detective Shaw. Hank went over to explain. PJ500 #746 523 972.

I looked back at Hank. "He was here, Lieutenant."

I scanned again and began following a trail of thirium. Hank jogged up behind me, following me out of the taped area. I turned into a nearby ally, and noticed the trail stop at a large splotch of thirum. "He must have patched his wound here."

"Who?" I turned to see (y/n) I hadn't noticed her follow us.

"Rhys." I tilted my head apologetically.

She sighed. "Ah, shit."

"What now Connor?" Hank asked.

"I'll go reconstruct what happened." I walked passed them and went back to the scene.

After taking note of the gun on the ground, the bullet wounds, the traces of thirium on the victim's hands, and other small details. I reconstructed the events and reported it to both Hank and Detective Shaw. "Well you're certainly useful aren't you?" Detective Shaw commented.

I give him a grateful bow of the head. "Thank you. I try to be."

"I'll have my officers keep a look out for this android. Hopefully, having more eyes out for him will help find him."

"We really appreciate that, thanks," Hank said, shaking the detective's hand.

"My pleasure. Good luck. I'll contact you if we find anything." Detective Shaw turned on his heel and walked away from us.

(y/n) walked up behind us and touched my shoulder. "So what now, gents?"

"I guess we just walk around and hope to find some trace of this guy," Hank answered, crossing his arms across his chest. "Unfortunately, we don't know this town as well as Detroit, so there isn't much that we can do unless someone reports seeing Rhys."

"We could keep following the sidewalk. Maybe there will be some other clues," I suggested.

"Sounds good to me." Hank uncrossed his arms. "Let's get going then."

(A/N: 1K reads? Whaaaaaaaaaaat?! Thank you guys so much! I was not expecting that to happen with my first 抖阴社区 piece. I expected it to get lost in the sea of many better stories, but I'm happy so many of you seem to enjoy it!

On a more serious note:

After writing this chapter, I just wanted to clarify that Rhys is not meant to represent any stigma on mental illness.  I realized that his behavior could be taken in a negative way, and I wanted to address it before I get any hate on the subject. There is an android specific reason (I can't talk about just yet due to spoilers) as to why Rhys is hearing this "voice" but eventually I will explain everything. I am educated on the topic of mental illness and the stigma that follows it, and I did not want to cause any misunderstanding for his character. I just felt that having this kind of trait in an android would be interesting for the story. I promise, all will be explained later on!
