Connor's POV
Hank sat quietly at his desk, watching as I did my coin tricks, when a call came to his desk phone. He answered it. "Yeah?... Okay. Send her on in."
Hank hung up the phone and looked at the entrance. I put my coin back in my jacket pocket and followed his gaze. A Chloe model came into the station, shyly, worriedly, walking towards us.
Hank folded his hands on his desk and leaned forward slightly. "Hello. Please have a seat."
She gave a small nod and sat in the chair in front of Hank's desk.
"What can we help you with?"
"You're the ones who came to meet Elijah about the deviants."
Hank nodded. "Yes. That's us. Why are you here, Chloe? Right?"
"Yes." She looked at her hands folded in her lap. "He uses his Chloes for much more than just housework..."
Hank raised an eyebrow and looked over at me through the corner of his eye. I met his gaze before looking back at Chloe. "What did he do, Chloe? Why are you here?"
She glanced up at me. "I ran away. I want to live my own life, like other androids, but I'm afraid that he'll come after me."
I walked around to the front of my desk and leaned against it. "The law prohibits him from keeping you against your will."
"But he is a powerful man. And a human, in general. If he comes after me, what will I do?"
I looked over at Hank, who gave me a nod. "We will be on your side. Both of us. Right, Lieutenant?"
"Right. That guy didn't leave a good impression on me anyway."
I remembered The Kamski Test and frowned.
Chloe didn't seem to remember, or she somehow wasn't affected by it, she just smiled with relief and stood up. "Thank you." She hugged my torso, making me tense up.
I turned my head to look at Hank. He simply shrugged. I awkwardly hugged her back. She must've been through a lot, so maybe she was just looking for some sort of comfort.
When she finally let go, I stepped back. "So... Where should I go? I don't even know how to start my new life."
"Well, there's always Jericho. They take in plenty of androids for temporary housing. They can help you get your new start. They also provide protection."
She nodded. "I'll go there, then. Thank you, again." She spun on her heel and quickly left.
I sat back at my desk. "It is getting close to our lunch break. Where is (y/n)?"
Hank shrugged. "Maybe she forgot."
I shook my head. "That doesn't sound like her. I hope she isn't hurt."
"I'm sure she's fine, but if you're that worried, just text her."
"Right. You're right." I blinked to send her a message and waited for her reply, seeing our conversation in my vision, similarly to how I see information when I scan.
RK800: (y/n)? Where are you? Are you okay?
(y/n) (l/n): I'm on my way home.
RK800: Why are you going home? I thought you were going to meet Hank and I for lunch.
(y/n) (l/n): I was.
RK800: I'm sorry. I don't think I understand.
(y/n) (l/n): I'm not coming. We'll talk when you get home.
I furrowed my brows. Hank seemed to notice. "What's that face for?"
"She's not coming."
"Why not?"
"I don't know. She said that she wants to talk when I get home."
Hank sucked in through his teeth and let out a long sigh. "Connor, you should go now."
I tilted my head at him. "Why? We have work."
"That's a woman's way of saying 'You're in deep shit.' Go ahead, we're almost on our break anyway."
"Are you sure, Lieutenant?"
"Very. Go. Now."
~Time Skip~
I walked into the house, seeing (y/n) hunched over a cup of coffee/tea at the island counter. "(y/n)? Are you alright?"
She turned around and smiled at me, but it didn't seem genuine. "Oh, hey Connor."
I tilted my head and furrowed my brows. "What do we need to talk about?"
She held her mug in her hand, watching her finger as it traced around the rim. "I dropped by the station today, as expected."
"Why are you here, then?"
She looked back up at me. "Why was there a Chloe android at the station?"
"(y/n), she-"
She stood up, setting her mug on the counter. "She's gorgeous, isn't she? Perfect in every way? Why was she hugging you?"
"You're jealous?"
"Uh, yeah? You were hugging a pretty girl."
"I will admit that she is pretty," I stepped closer to (y/n), "but she is nothing compared to you."
She crossed her arms, unconvinced. "Is that so?"
"(y/n), she had been through a lot. She just needed comforting, and I happened to be there. I was very uncomfortable, but I wasn't going to deny her that comfort."
She sighed heavily. "Dammit, Connor. You are so sickeningly sweet."
"I think you may have simply misunderstood the situation. I am a detective after all, and sometimes people just need to hug someone. I never feel anything romantic for them, though. Only you can make me feel that way."
"How can I know that's true?"
"Have I ever lied to you?"
"Never when it was important..."
"Exactly. I only love you, (y/n)."
She sighed again. "I just... feel like I need some sort of proof of that now..."
"Well... I know you told me not to read that scene in The Notebook, but I did after Hank explained it. The book seemed to show intercourse as a highly intimate activity."
(y/n) suddenly blushed a deep shade of red. "Dear lord, please don't call it that. Do you even have... the proper... equipment?" She visibly cringed at her own words.
I struggled for a moment to figure out what she meant, but I quickly got it. "Yes. I do, actually. For some reason, CyberLife thought that it would be useful. I have yet to discover why."
"Well... are you saying that you want to have sex?"
"Only if you want to."
She shifted her weight to one leg and looked at her feet. "Of course I want to."
