Hank came out of the interrogation room after unsuccessfully interrogating Rhys. "I should've known he would continue to be a pain in my ass. You want to give it a try, Connor?"

I glanced at (y/n) who was standing silently next to me. "(y/n)? Do you think you could get him to talk to us?"

She was caught off guard. "What? Me?"

Gavin pushed into the conversation. Why is he even in here? "No way."

I sighed. "Detective Reed, could you just-"

"No! We're not just going to let a civilian, who has no idea what she's doing, waltz on in and interrogate this murderer."

"Gavin, can you listen for once in your life? I'm not as incompetent as you seem to think I am. I know what I'm doing. (y/n) could be our only chance of getting anything out of him, and I am confident in her abilities. If it doesn't work, I'll go in and try it your way. Okay?"

Gavin huffed and gestured for (y/n) to go in. "Fine. Go ahead." He crossed his arms, calling me a prick under his breath.

I looked back at (y/n) and gave her a small smile. "Go on. Just talk to him like you normally would."

She nodded and I unlocked the door to let her go inside. Rhys looked up at her. "So they're using you to get to me now?"

She stayed quiet as she sat down across from him. After a moment of hesitation, she spoke up. "How are you holding us, Rhys?"

"Great," he answered sarcastically, "My best friend betrayed me, I was caught, and I've spent the last three days in a glass cage. I'm doing fantastic (y/n)."

She leaned closer to him. "Are you not even the slightest bit scared? Do you not feel bad at all for what you did to those poor people?"

"Unfortunately, one of them came back." He looked at the one-way mirror, seeming to know that I was on the other side.

She seemed to try to hold back a scowl. "Rhys, this isn't you. I know it isn't."

"Why do you care?"

She lowered her voice. It was barely loud enough to hear. "Because I want to know what happened to my friend. I need to know what happened to you."

"Shut up."

She looked at him in surprise. "What?"

"I wasn't talking to you."

She tilted her head. "I'm the only one in here, Rhys. Who were you talking to?"

"No." He shook his head. "I won't."

"Rhys!" She put her hands on his cheeks to make him look at her. I felt a ping of something in my chest, but I tried to ignore it. "Answer me. Who are you talking to?"

Rhys finally made eye contact with her, his attitude seeming to do a complete 180. "He... He won't leave me alone. I'm so scared (y/n)."

"Who Rhys? You can talk to me. Who won't leave you alone?"

"I-I don't know. He's been there for months. Yelling at me... Telling me what to do... I can hear him all the time. I just want him to be quiet, but he won't stop."

(y/n) looked at him, worry filling her eyes. "Is he... in your head?"

Rhys nodded. "He's telling me to stop talking."

She kept her voice calm. "I need you to try to ignore him and talk to me. When did this start?"

Rhys struggled to find his words and fight off what I assume was the voice in his head. "I just wanted to be safe, so I-I found a man who said he was helping androids." Rhys shook his head. "He didn't want to help us. He hid us away... did experiments on us. He put... something... in my software. It wasn't so noticeable back then. One day, I woke up from my sleep mode, and the house was empty. None of the androids were there. When I went outside to make my own escape, I saw the man lying in the mud, dead."
