When the plane landed, I started to get really excited. I hadn't seen my parents in over 2 years, so it would be good to see them again. I was slightly worried about what they would think about Connor since they didn't seem too thrilled about me dating an android, but I hoped that they would grow to like him and understand why I love him. I was just happy they invited him so that they could give him a chance.

The plane pulled up to the walkway, and I looked back at Connor, who seemed to be pretty nervous. I gave his hand a gentle squeeze and he looked over at me. "What's wrong, Con?"

"Nothing."

"See you say that... but I don't believe you for a second."

He sighed. "What if they don't like me? What if they still don't want us to be together?"

"I'm not going to let that happen. My parents trust my judgment. They'll love you."

He gave me a small smile. "If you say so."

I smiled back at him. "Good. Now let's go."

We got our carry-on luggage and left the plane. I kept holding Connor's hand the entire way to the terminal where my parents would be waiting. My eyes met with my mom's, and I ran up to her and gave her a big hug. Of course, she cried. "Moooom! Stop crying."

"But my baby's been gone for so long. Of course I'm going to cry about it."

I pulled out of the hug and she wiped her tears away as I hugged my dad. "Hey, kiddo."

"Hi, Dad."

My dad doesn't talk much, but I know he loves and cares about me. I pulled away and turned to look at a tense Connor. He clearly had no idea what to do. I walked over to him and touched his arm. "Mom, Dad. This is Connor. Connor these are my parents, (m/n) and (d/n) (l/n)."

Connor smiled politely. "It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. and Mrs. (l/n)."

My mom came up to him trying to be optimistic, but I could tell she was forcing it. "It's nice to meet you, too, Connor." She glanced at me. "Should we go get your luggage?"

I nodded. "Yeah. Let's go."

We walked through the airport, Connor to my left and my parents to my right. "So, Connor. (y/n) has told us so much about you," my mom said.

He glanced at my mom then at me. "Is that so?"

I smiled at him. "All good things."

My mom smiled. "She seems very fond of you."

He caressed my hand with his thumb. "That's good. I'm very fond of her, too."

I smiled at him and gently nudged his shoulder. My mom seemed to approve of our interaction.

We got our suitcases. When Connor walked over to the conveyor belt to grab his bag, my mom leaned over to whisper something in my ear. "You were right, he is very handsome."

I blushed and playfully pushed her away. "Mom! Stop! Also, I told you so."

"I just hope he is a sweet as you say."

I nodded. "He is. I promise."

She smiled, and Connor came back up to us. "What are you talking about?"

I beamed at him. "Nothing!" I gave him a very quick peck on the cheek and started walking away. "Let's roll, Fam!" (I'm sorry. Don't yell at meeeeeee!)

We went to my parents' automated car, loaded all of our luggage in the trunk, then started to head off to my parents' house. My mom continued to ask Connor and I questions, but my dad remained silent, just listening in as usual.

We soon got to the house, it was a pretty simple one-story home covered in pale blue siding and stone accents: the same one we moved into when I was a teenager. Connor and I grabbed our bags and followed my parents inside. When I walked in, I was immediately attacked with a big hug. "(y/n)! It's so great to finally see you again!"

It was the android that lived with my parents. She was a ZT200 and she now wore regular clothes. I hugged her back. "Kati? You stayed?"

She pulled away and smiled. She always showed more emotions than other androids; I guess it was because she felt comfortable around us. "Yes. I didn't see much of a reason to leave. Your parents have always been so kind to me. They have even encouraged me to go get a real job." Her smile faltered a bit. "Unfortunately, no one seems to hire an android."

I rubbed her arm comfortingly. "They just need to adjust to the change. You'll get a job soon enough, I think."

She smiled again and glanced behind me. "Who is this?"

"Right, sorry!" I stepped back and touched Connor's shoulder. "This is my boyfriend, Connor." I felt a little bit strange saying 'boyfriend' because I had never actually called him that before, but it was also exciting at the same time. "Connor, this is Kati."

Connor smiled politely. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Kati."

Kati smiled back. "It's a pleasure to meet you, too, Connor. I've never seen any androids like you around. If you don't mind me asking, what model are you?"

"RK800. I'm a prototype. Unique to the Detroit Police Department."

"Oh. That's why." She looked at our bags, then at my parents. "Should I take them to their room?"

My mom shook her head. "I'm sure (y/n) remembers the way to her room."

I smiled. "I do. Thanks for the offer though, Kati."

Connor and I picked up our luggage again, and he followed me to my old bedroom. We set our bags on the bed, and Connor turned to hug me, burying his face in my hair.

"Something wrong, Connor?"

"Your father is kind of intimidating."

I snickered. "Connor, you're a detective and he's the one who intimidates you?"

Connor lifts his head to look at me with his worried brown eyes. "He's an important part of your life, and I want him to like me. He already doesn't seem to."

"That's just how he is. He's quiet and doesn't show his feelings much. He'll talk to you at some point, I'm sure. Don't worry. He's as harmless and gentle as a teddy bear once you get to know him." I gave him a gentle kiss on the lips. "Now, come on. I'm sure they have more that they want to talk to you about."
