"What about Ozzy?"
~
Time seemed to just fly by since Kakashi first got me Ozzy, and he's been growing everyday. It's only been about three weeks since then, but he's gotten much more comfortable around us and exploring the apartment. I sometimes catch him lying on my pillow, but once he sees me, he runs off and tries to act like he wasn't doing anything.
Ozzys' been a great company keeper while Kakashi goes out, but it seems like he gets really lonely when we're both out. I know because every time Kakashi and I come in the front door, he'd sprint over and paw at our legs to get our attention. I think it's one of the cutest things he does, but Kakashi has a different view on it.
Actually, Kakashi's left me fully responsible for him. And now that I think about it, it wasn't really that big of a surprise. I make sure to feed him twice a day, and give him clean water. And if I forget, Kakashi makes it a clear point that I have. It's gotten to the point where he reminds almost everyday, even if I already have given Ozzy food and water. So, in an attempt to get back at him, I've taken to moving everything in our apartment two inches to the left. It's a subtle difference, but enough to where Kakashi hasn't noticed and bumps into things. I'm pretty sure he's already bruised his hips from bumping into the table, and his toes as well from the legs on the couch.
Currently, I was sprawled across our bed. It was around eleven at night, I'm not particularly tired either. Kakashi was in the kitchen, just putting away the dishes I washed after dinner, so he should be in here soon. I rolled over onto his side of the bed and yawned, maybe I was wrong, I'm starting to feel tired now. I put my face against Kakashi's pillow and yawned again, I've been getting tired earlier and earlier lately. I don't know why, and I don't like it.
I heard the door open, and a moment later the bed dipped to my left. I turned my head to see Kakashi, he looks over at me and says,
"That cat's been getting fur all over my clothes lately."
I couldn't help but laugh quietly and reply,
"Then don't let him sleep on them, he's going to lie wherever he wants. You've got to teach him that he can't do that if you don't like it."
Kakashi rolled his dark eye in annoyance and says,
"Well, he's your cat."
I simply yawned again, and stretched out along the bed. He's basically telling me that I'm supposed to be the one to teach Ozzy what he can and can't do, which isn't gonna happen. I don't mind the fur, I'm used to it now. But lately when we're out training, I'll spot a big wad of fur stuck somewhere on Kakashi. I end up laughing my butt off while he tries to look and see where it is, making an even bigger fool of himself.
I rolled over so I was now staring up at the ceiling, I start off,
"Kakashi, thank you."
He shoots me a puzzled look and asks,
"For what?"
"For Ozzy, I know you didn't just get him because he needed a home, or you thought he'd keep me company. I know it's because you want to keep my mind off of what happened with Okuri and our baby. And..I just...."
I paused, unable to find the right words to continue. Kakashi however, adds on to what I was saying,
"You're right, and I hope you continue to take good care of him. He's relying on you to care and love for him."
I closed my eyes, he was making it seem like he replaced our child with a cat. Which, now that I think about, doesn't sound very good. I felt the bed shift around and a moment after that, Kakashi settles himself on my waist. I opened my eyes halfway and ask,
"What are you doing?"
He leans in, and lightly touches his nose to mine while replying,
"That's for me to know, and you to find out."
He then closes the small space between us and presses his masked lips to mine. I felt one of his hands slide under my shirt, his fingers felt cold against my skin. He leans up some to start pulling my shirt off, I helped him and he tosses it off to the side.
I looked up at him and ask,
"You can't control yourself, can you?"
"No," he replies bluntly as he lets his hands roam around my midsection, and slowly travel upwards.
His hands were just about to reach my chest when there was a meowing sound coming from somewhere in the room. Kakashi looks around towards the door, Ozzy suddenly jumps up from the floor next to the bed. He trots over to us and sniffs at Kakashi, he then comes over and settles himself on my stomach area. Kakashi pulls his hands back, I couldn't help but laugh.
"He gets lonely, don't be mad at him," I say once my laughter subsides.
"I'm not mad, not at all," he replies with a sigh.
Kakashi gets off me and lays at my side, he reaches over and scratches Ozzy's head.
