The sound of feet pattering on the floor could be heard as Severus looked up from his book to see his daughter standing there smiling. She held up a letter as the owl flew out of the window. She had just gotten accepted to Hogwarts, the best wizarding school and where he worked. He lifted her up making me her squeal as he spun her around. Words couldn't explain how happy he was to know that his daughter was accepted to the school she'd gone to for years already.
Four years later and he heard the same feet pattering come running down the stairs of the house. She had her trunk in hand and a wide grin at where she was going, she'd never been to a quidditch match, except for the Hogwarts ones of course. Her best friend and boyfriend, Cedric Diggory was picking her up and taking her to the Quidditch world cup and she'd been so happy and excited for it for weeks. Cedric was a sixth year Hufflepuff that went to Hogwarts and despite the three-year difference between the two they loved each other none the less. That doesn't mean Severus didn't try keeping him away from his daughter but it just never seemed to work. Cedric didn't care if he got bad marks for stupid reasons, or that she was in Slytherin, or that he would get detention for her, he truly did love her. It was truly sickening as he told others, they're love was pure and it always brought a smile to his face seeing how happy his daughter was. There was a knock at the door causing the girl to jump up and squeal but even if she raced to the door to greet her beloved her father was faster and got there before her.
" Hello Professor," Cedric greeted the man looking behind him to see his girlfriend jumping over her father to see him.
" When will you be back?" He asked the boy in front of him ignoring the smile on his face as his daughter undoubtedly made a fool of herself to embarrass her father.
" Tomorrow at noon sir," He replied politely trying not to laugh as Y/n made faces over her father's shoulder. Severus sighed looking behind him and at his daughter who stopped what she was immediately and smiled sweetly at the man before her.
" Be careful and don't make stupid choices. I swear if you have a single scratch on you I will never leave you out of my sight again," Severus said bringing his daughter in for a tight hug not wanting to let go since it'd be like letting her go for good. He was letting his little girl go out with a boy for a whole night! Of course, he'd be worried what parent wouldn't be?
" I know dad, I'll be safe and good no worries," She said hugging him but as she let go she shot a wink to her boyfriend who laughed lightly but stopped seeing the look he got from his professor. Y/n seemed to notice and patted his back in reassurance. " And no grandkids either don't worry." She laughed at her fathers look of absolute horror as she grabbed her stuff.
" Don't you dare touch my daughter," He growled pointing at the young Diggory.
" Don't have to worry dear Severus I will keep a close eye on the two love birds," Amos chirped appearing from around the corner. This did not have the calming effect he had hoped for and it seemed to only worry the father more as he watched his daughter go to the younger Diggory. They said a proper hello before sharing an embrace seemingly caught in their own world. " Oh young love," Amos sighed happily at the young couple. " I suppose our families will one day be one eh?" Amos joked hoping to clear the mood but that made Severus' heart hurt thinking of his little girl getting married and walking her down the aisle was too hard to think about, it was the first time she's been allowed to go out with the boy in the last three years! Now a wedding, he couldn't handle it so when his daughter said goodbye it felt like his world was falling apart at the seams. He could remember her first words and steps like it was yesterday but now she was out with a boy. He collapsed on the couch as the door closed not being able to handle his daughter growing up.
