We were crowded around the corridors watching as Pegues' flew down with a carriage behind it almost hitting Hagrid. I looked around seeing everyone's amazement reassuring me that this was real. There was a small little boat with a huge mast that I could barely see in the black lake. The water around it shot up as a huge old boat appeared where the little boat was. " Woah," I said under my breath at the amazing scene unfolding before McGonagall shooed us away saying something about a 'ridiculous show' and ' show-offs'. I laughed following the other students into the Great Hall and sat at the Slytherin table with my friends.

" Now that we're all sorted, I have an announcement to make," The doors opened and Filch started running to Dumbledore. " Hogwarts will not be only your home this year but home to some very special guests as well." I laughed along with my friends as Filch ran down bringing his knees up, he held his heart and leg and I started wondering how he cleaned Hogwarts and kept up with the kids.

" You see Hogwarts has been chosen to host," He stopped as Filch started blabbering to him and I really wanted to know what they were talking about at that moment. He nodded and started running back, faster if I might add.

" Hogwarts has been chosen to host a legendary event, the TriWizard tournament. Now for those of you who don't know the TwiWizard tournament brings together three schools for a series of magical contests. For each school, one student is selected to compete. Let me be clear, if chosen you stand alone and trust me when I say the contests are not for the faint of hearted. More of that later, for now please help me in welcoming the lovely ladies of Beuxtrixes academy." The doors opened and girls in blue dresses came through stopping everyone once and a while to sigh and release butterflies. I looked around seeing Ron Weasley looking at them with loving eyes, this made me look at Cedric but he was looking at me. I smiled and waved and he blew me a kiss making me blush.

" And now our friends from the north, the proud sons from Durmstrong and their headmaster Igor Karkaroff!" The halls opened and the boys came in with staffs and doing gymnastics, I sat there amazed that they could do the flips when I noticed who was there.

" That's Viktor Krum!" I said looking at my friend, she nodded her head dreamily. One of the boys blew on a stick with a flame making it turn into a bird. I looked over to my Gryffindor friends and saw that Ron was fangirling over Krum, he caught my eye and I made kissing faces at him as he rolled his eyes at my stupidity.

" Your attention please!" Dumbledore said after our dinner disappeared. " I'd like to say a few words, eternal glory that's what awaits the student who wins the Triwizard Tournament but to do this that student must survive three tasks, three extremely difficult tasks. For this reason, the ministry seemed fit to impose a new rule, to explain all of this we have the head of the department of ministries Mr Bartomis Crouch."

But at that moment, there was a deafening rumble of thunder and the doors of the Great Hall banged open.

A man stood in the doorway, leaning upon a long staff, shrouded in a black travelling cloak. Every head in the Great Hall swivelled toward the stranger, suddenly brightly illuminated by a fork of lightning that flashed across the ceiling. He lowered his hood, shook out a long mane of grizzled, dark grey hair, then began to walk up toward the teachers' table.

A dull clunk echoed through the Hall on his every other step. He reached the end of the top table, turned right, and limped heavily toward Dumbledore. Another flash of lightning crossed the ceiling.

The lightning had thrown the man's face into sharp relief, and it was a face unlike any I had ever seen. It looked as though it had been carved out of weathered wood by someone who had only the vaguest idea of what human faces are supposed to look like, and was none too skilled with a chisel. Every inch of skin seemed to be scarred. The mouth looked like a diagonal gash, and a large chunk of the nose was missing. But it was the man's eyes that made him frightening.

One of them was small, dark, and beady. The other was large, round as a coin, and a vivid, electric blue. The blue eye was moving ceaselessly, without blinking, and was rolling up, down, and from side to side, quite independently of the normal eye – and then it rolled right over, pointing into the back of the man's head so that all they could see was whiteness.

The stranger reached Dumbledore. He stretched out a hand that was as badly scarred as his face, and Dumbledore shook it, muttering words I couldn't hear. He seemed to be making some inquiry of the stranger, who shook his head unsmilingly and replied in an undertone. Dumbledore nodded and gestured the man to the empty seat on his right-hand side.

The stranger sat down, shook his mane of dark grey hair out of his face, pulled a plate of sausages toward him, raised it to what was left of his nose, and sniffed it. He then took a small knife out of his pocket, speared a sausage on the end of it, and began to eat. His normal eye was fixed upon the sausages, but the blue eye was still darting restlessly around in its socket, taking in the Hall and the students.

"May I introduce our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher?" said Dumbledore brightly into the silence. "Professor Moody. "

It was usual for new staff members to be greeted with applause, but none of the staff or students clapped except Dumbledore and Hagrid, who both put their hands together and applauded, but the sound echoed dismally into the silence, and they stopped fairly quickly. Everyone else seemed too transfixed by Moody's bizarre appearance to do more than stare at him.

" That's Mad-eye Moody?" Ellie said appalled that they are letting an ex-Auror teach at Hogwarts. I nodded to transfixed with the man to say anything. After the little scene Crouch continued to talk as if it never happened.

" After due consideration the ministry has concluded, for their own safety, no one under the age of seventeen should be allowed to put their name in the Goblet of Fire." This caused an uproar but my mind went straight to Cedric who was in fact seventeen. He looked at the Goblet with determination and I knew what he was thinking and it made my heart stop. He looked my way and smiled brightly until I began shaking my head with pleading eyes.

"The Goblet of Fire, anyone wishing to submit themselves to the tournament merely writes their name on a piece of parchment and throw it in the flame before this hour on Thursday night. Do Not do so lightly if chosen there is no turning back. As from this moment the TriWizard tournament has begun." When they let us go I jumped up wanting to talk to Cedric before we went to our dormitories, although I had my own ( Perk of being a teachers daughter).

"You're not doing it are you?" I asked as I met him at the door.

" Can we talk about this later, I'll explain just tomorrow?" He asked looking around at the students trying not to make a scene.

" No Ced! I want to know why? Do you know how much it'll me if something bad happened to you?" I asked hitting his chest in an attempt to show him how mad I was but it came out weak as the tears started to brim.

" Nothing bad will happen, just think about if I win how awesome it'd be for us. We'd have enough money to buy our place, fantastic wedding, fame." He added the last thing in almost a whisper not wanting to upset me.

" I don't care about all that Ced, I just want you with me," He wiped the tears away that had managed to slip past me.

" And I'll be right by you, I promise. Now it's getting late love and we both should probably go to bed, we'll talk more in the morning okay?" He asked rubbing his thumb across my cheek. I nodded before hugging him tightly. " I'm not going anywhere, I love."

" I love you too Ced." Before we parted ways he gave me a quick kiss that managed to make every worry slip away.
