Epilogue - Unknown

Start from the beginning

"Mer! Where are you going?!" screams Rosemary. I throw open the door, enter the hallway and start sprinting down the stairs. I enter the main room, and go down the stairs to his meeting room. He needs to hear this. He needs to hear what I just heard.

If that Sawyer Harble is gonna come to my home in eight solid months, I need to inform people.

I throw open the door of the meeting room, seeing my brother standing up in front of the table with all the members of the League of Freemind.

"Cyvil! Can I see you for a moment?" I say. All heads turn over to me, my brother being the last to turn around. His white-blue eyes stare at me, annoyed by me interrupting the meeting. "Now please?"

Cyvil and I walk to our room full of computers and records.

"This better be important. You just pulled me out of something very important." he says. I touch the lamp in the room, turning on from my electrokinesis. I go up to the computer at the front desk, turning it on quickly.

"It is," I say, turning to him. I hold up the flash drive to him. "This is a record of a vision Cynthia just had of the future. Eight months into the future to be exact. I heard something."

I insert the flash drive in the monitor of the computer. The screen glitches on, showing a recording of Cynthia's vision. It shows a scale of the entire recording of her vision, soundwaves of many different lengths throughout the bar. I skip forward, towards the end of the recording from where I heard it. I click play, it chattering sounds bolts out.

"No! Please  tell  me  you  are   not  going  out  there again!" shouts a guy's voice.

"Eli! I have to do this! Please!" exclaims a girl's voice.

"Sawyer! She just tried to kill you!" shouts the guy's voice.

I turn to Cyvil's reaction. He stares at the recording, his eyes showing shock and concern unlike no other. He hears it too, and is alarmed like me.

"I need to save her!" the girl's voice shouts.

"Sawyer, I am not letting her  go  near you!" shouts the boy's voice. I pause it, rewind it, and replay it. "Sawyer, I am not letting her  go  near  you!" I pause it, rewind it, and replay it once again. "Sawyer, I am not letting her  go  near  you!"

Cyvil stands up straight, shaking his head.

"Well I'll be damned," he says. "'Sawyer'? 'Sawyer Harble'?"

I snort and give him a look.

"What other 'Sawyer' would it be?" I say. "Cyvil can you believe this? We knew Sawyer Harble was gonna discover us at some point in the future, but we thought it was years from now! Cynthia saw eight months into the future, the location was here too. Sawyer was in her vision."

Cyvil runs his hand through his brown almond hair, shaking his head.

"I don't get it... how could she have discovered us so quickly?" asks Cyvil. I shrug.

"I don't know, but apparently she'll discover us a lot sooner than we thought. Looks like there's gonna be an... 'Eli' alongside her too." I say. Cyvil gives it time to think through. He starts walking away from the computer.

"Well... we've got the advantage," says Cyvil, turning around to me. His eyes are so light blue, it's almost like they are glowing in the dark. "We know they're coming here, they don't. At least we don't think they do."

I listen closely.

"Mer... you realize Sawyer is the most powerful Child of 42 in the world. But she doesn't know about you... You possess every single power and no one's aware of that, except for everyone else on this hidden island. We shouldn't jump to conclusions."

"Isn't that a good thing?" I scoff. "When she comes here, she isn't gonna be ready for me."

Cyvil gives me a look.

"You also gotta be ready for her," says Cyvil. I sigh. "We all have to be ready for them. From what we heard, Sawyer's not gonna come here alone. We've seen what we've needed to see, we know what we need to know..."

"Yeah, yeah, things are gonna get really ugly once she comes," I scoff. "Cyvil, I've known about this forever. Sawyer Harble is finally coming to our home. I get to prove myself for once, I get to prove myself to her!"

Cyvil stares at me.

"I am not letting Sawyer Harble invade my home and start a war." I claim. Cyvil snickers, probably proud of my statement. He takes out the flash drive, and proudly hands it to me. I grab it, satisfied.

"Then you need to be ready..." he says.

"Oh don't worry, big brother," I say. I hold the flash drive in front of me. I connect it to my mind, ready to ignite the graceful glow of magic in my hands. In a blink... it withers away with white waves of particles within my enhanced fingertips. That should keep it safe. "I always am."

I play with the white particles with my fingers, twirling the waves around in a little circle.

"All right. You have approximately eight months," he says. We look at each other, sharing the same, determined, satisfied grin. "Let's begin."

THE END

THE CHILDREN OF 42 WILL RETURN.
