(y/n)'s POV
I slowly opened my eyes and looked around my room. How did I get in here? Where's Pippin? I thought. I rolled out of bed and adjusted my tank top. When I opened the door, I was smothered in the smell of bacon. I walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. I saw Connor, back in his regular clothes, cooking eggs in a skillet. I sat at the island counter. "Morning, Connor."
He glanced back at me and smiled. "Good morning, (y/n). I hope bacon and eggs are okay."
"Why are you making breakfast?"
"I thought you would be hungry when you woke up."
I pushed my hair behind my ear. "To be honest, I thought you would've left last night."
He turned around and started putting the eggs on a plate. "I didn't think it would be right for me to leave without letting you know. Should I have?"
I shook my head. "No, it's fine. I'm happy to see you first thing in the morning anyway."
He glanced up at me, then back down, seeming embarrassed. He put two strips of bacon on the plate and set it in front of me with a fork.
I smiled at him. "Thank you, Connor. I don't think a guy has ever made breakfast for me before."
He leaned over the counter and watched me take my first bite. I set my fork down. "Oh my god. Connor, this is amazing."
He smiled. "I'm glad you enjoy it."
I took a bite of my bacon, and Pippin trotted up to the base of my stool. I looked down at him. "Nuh-uh. You betrayed me. You're not getting any of my food today."
Connor chuckled. "Sorry about that. He just looked so comfy in my lap."
I glared at him playfully. "Don't rub it in."
He smiled and went to wash the dishes he had already dirtied.
"Hey, hey! I'll get that later!"
He looked at me again. "Are you sure?"
"Yes. Now come sit."
He shut off the water and came around to sit next to me. He propped himself up with his chin in his palm, looking at me.
After I finished, I threw Pippin the last bit of bacon I had left for him. Connor glanced at him. "I thought you said he wouldn't get anything."
I sighed. "Yeah, but I love the brat too much to leave him with nothing, even if he did betray me." I got up and rinsed my plate before setting it in the sink. "Well, that was delicious. Thank you, that was very sweet of you."
He smiled. "You're welcome." He stood up. "I'm sorry, but I should probably get home before Hank wakes up."
"No, that's fine. Don't want him getting mad again, do we?" I shrugged with my hands behind my back. "I'll walk you to the door."
He gave me a nod. "Thank you."
We walked to the front door. Connor stepped outside and began to walk away. "Connor, wait," I called to him.
He turned around. "What's wrong?"
"I just forgot something." I trotted up to him, put my hand on his shoulder and kissed him on the cheek. I felt my face heat up a little bit. "Thank you for everything."
He seemed stunned. "Y-You're welcome."
I tore my gaze away from his chocolate brown eyes and smiled to myself. I suddenly felt his lips on the cheek I had turned towards him. My eyes widened and my face felt like it was on fire. When he pulled away I looked at him, and he just smiled. "Have a nice day, (y/n)."
I smiled shyly. "I-I will. You too, Connor."
He turned and began walking down the street. I watched him as he walked away. I sighed and went back inside, closing the door behind me. I looked at Pippin sitting at my feet. "I need help, boy." I giggled to myself as I gently touched my cheek.
Connor's POV
I stepped into the house and saw Hank passed out on the couch. It was a good thing we had the day off. I grabbed a blanket off of the back of the couch and draped it over him. He stirred slightly as I moved to sit in the armchair. He groaned. "You're a good kid, Connor."
I smiled to myself as he fell back asleep. Sumo jumped up onto my lap and dozed off. I ran my hand through his fur and watched the news that was on the TV. "At 7:32 last night, the Android Rights Act was officially put into place, granting androids the same rights and freedoms as humans. The United States government is currently working to add it to the constitution as an amendment." I listened intently as the news anchor continued to talk about the Android Rights Act.
After a short while, Hank woke up again. I gently pushed Sumo off of my lap and went to the kitchen to grab Hank a glass of water. I came back into the living room and saw him sitting up holding his head. I handed him the glass and a couple painkillers. "Take these, Lieutenant."
He took them. "Thanks."
I sat back in the chair. "How do you feel?"
"Like shit." He took a drink of the water. "How was your date with (y/n)?"
I tilted my head. "Date?"
He nodded. "Yeah. Date. You know, when two people like each other so they spend time together."
"I do like (y/n). She is a nice person."
Hank held up his hand and shook his head. "I meant in a romantic way, Connor."
I looked at my hands in my lap. "Oh."
"So what do you think of her, Connor?"
I sat back in my seat. "Well... she's smart, funny, and she's nice to me." I gave a small smile. "Really pretty. I enjoy her company."
He leaned his head back slightly and smirked. "Uh huh. That all?"
I raised one of my eyebrows. "What do you want me to say, Lieutenant?"
"I've seen how you look at her. What do you feel when you're around her?"
I averted my gaze. "I... I don't know. I can't really describe it."
"Any... changes? You know, quickened heart rate, nervousness, all that mushy shit?"
"Yes. Usually when she gets close to me."
Hank chuckled. "Sounds like someone's got a crush."
I tilted my head and furrowed my brows. "What do you mean?"
"Fucking-A, Connor. Did CyberLife really make you that oblivious?"
I was confused by his frustration. "I suppose."
He leaned in my direction. "Love! Do you know what that is?"
"It's an emotion that involves a romantic attachment to someone," I explained.
He nodded slowly. "Yeah, but do you know what it feels like?"
I shook my head. "No. Do you?"
He hesitated. "Yeah. I was in love with Cole's mother."
"Why are you no longer with her, then?"
He looked at the floor, leaving a moment of silence between us. "After Cole died... it was just... too hard for us to be around each other." He glanced at me. "That's probably hard for you to understand, huh."
"I understand well enough. I won't push you to tell me more, but I would still like to know what love feels like."
Hank sighed. "I can tell you that." He finished off his water. "When you're in love, you want to be with that person all of the time... well... most of the time. Even when they get on your fuckin' nerves you still want to protect them. You'd do anything to keep them happy."
I looked at the floor. Do I love (y/n)? I thought.
Hank cocked his head. "Something resonate with that, Connor?"
I glanced at him. "Yeah."
Hank simply smiled.
Suddenly, I had a call come in. "Someone just reported seeing a PJ500 android go into an abandoned house. It could be Rhys."
Hank slowly stood up. "Alright. Let me get dressed and we can go. Are you gonna call (y/n) to come along?"
"Should I? What if it's dangerous?"
"Surely Rhys wouldn't hurt her. Besides, it's like you said: she could be a good negotiation tool."
I thought for a moment. "Okay. I'll ask her."
Hank nodded and headed to his bedroom.
