*Jay's POV*

When I left Lindsay's apartment the next morning to get to the Academy she was still asleep and I wasn't quite sure if I should leave but I left her a note that said that she could call me any time to get back.

"Damn man, you look wasted." Jamie was waiting for me when I got out of my car.

"I am." I hadn't really slept last night because I wanted to make sure Lindsay slept well.

We walked into the Academy and then after we got changed we went to class.

We talked about the different 10-01 codes and I was able to shine because Erin had told me a few of them, which is why the spontaneous test at the end of the lesson didn't cost me any effort.

"Why did they let us write a test right away?" My friend complained when we walked to the hall to go to our next firearm training but I didn't really listen to him because I was still thinking about Lindsay.

"I don't know, man." I dropped my bag at the entrance and of course found a new instructor in the hall.

"I'm here to inform you that L..." He stopped mid-sentece because the big door got opened and Erin came inside.

"So sorry I'm late. Traffic was horrible." She smiled at the group , looked for me, and then stood in front of the class, the other man left the room and I was just confused.

*Erin's POV*

"Today there is target practice, so find a target and then go." Everyone got a gun and then they lined up to shoot.

I knew Jay wanted to talk, but not here in front of all these people now.

Being alone at home wasn't the thing I wanted to do today and teaching would distract me.

"Lindsay?" I turned and there was Stevenson again.

"Yes?" I looked right at him.

"I feel like I'm not getting the position right." He looked completely dejected, but I knew he could but apparently wanted attention.

"Halstead!" I called for Jay and we came over right away.

"You're pretty good in this class, right?" He didn't knew what I wanted but nodded.

"Then you can show Stevenson how it is done." I send them both off and got my attention back to the other recruits.

*Jay's POV*

"Did she really just turn me down?" The guy looked devastated when we walked into a free part of the hall.

"She's your instructor." I didn't like that the guy kept trying on getting closer to Lindsay.

"That doesn't mean that I can sleep with her?" Stevenson looked at me questioningly, as if he usually got any woman he wanted.

"Anyway. So where is the problem?" I wasn't keen on helping him but of course I did.

"The only problem here is, that I want her. In my bed. With me. She's the finest gal I've ever laid eyes and soon hands on." I tensed my arms and really had to hold myself back from punching him here and now.

"How about you? You can't deny that she is pretty." He looked at me but I shook my head.

"You can't date an instructor. That's against the rules." I walked away from him and got back in line for the target training even though I knew I could do it in my sleep.

When I turned around a little later Stevenson was back with Erin and I could tell she was visible uncomfortable.

I looked around and saw a large mat leaning against the wall, when it was my turn to shoot I missed and hit the mat, which crashed loudly to the floor, which gave Lindsay the opportunity to come to me.

"What did you do?" She looked at me angrily.

"Sorry Ma'am. I tripped and missed. I will of course pay for the damage incurred." I looked to the floor and felt how everyone looked at me.

"You better do." Erin turned back to the class.

"Traning is over for today, you can go home." She sent us all away and I wanted to help her clean up, but Stevenson literally impaled me with his look and so I left with the rest of the group just to get hit at the jaw when I turned a corner.

"What the hell, man! Why did you do that? There is no way you shot so miserable." I saw the anger in his eyes.

"As I told her already; I tripped." I wanted I leave but he janked me back at my arm.

"Watch it." My tone of voice made him hesitate for a moment, but then he built himself up again.

"Did you just threaten me?" It accured to me that he just wanted me to make a mistake so I would get kicked out but I didn't want to play that shitty game.

*Erin's POV*

When I turned the corner I saw Jay and Stevenson.

"You two need help?" When he heard my voice, Jay's arm was immediately released.

"Ma'am. I'm so sorry you needed to witness this but this moron of a guy tried to attack me. I didn't want anyone to know because I don't want for him to get kicked out of the Academy but even when I told him to stop he didn't." Stevenson's words were dramatic and of course designed to make me believe him, but when I looked at Jay and he shook his head I immediately knew who to believe.

"You can save yourself the words, if I hear again how you lie to someone here so boldly, then that will be it for you and the police." I pushed Jay in front of me from the guy because I didn't feel like having to stop them fist fighting in a second if Stevenson says anything else.

"You okay?" Jay was silent until we were home.

"Yeah." I was not.

"Erin." His voice was calm and his gaze softened when he looked at me.

"You don't have to pretend to be okay. You're brother just died and then this idiot hits on you." He walked over to me and then closed his arms around me.

"Okay then, I'm not." I pressed my face against his chest and inhaled his scent, which immediately calmed me down.

"Jay?" He looked down at me and that made me feel even better.

"Thank you." I kissed him and he leaned down to deepen the kiss.

"You're welcome I guess." I knew that he didn't knew what I meant exactly.

"Not just for the thing with Stevenson earlier. For everything.  For being here with me almost every night, for calming me down when I need it and just for you being you. I love you. So much." Jay just kissed me again and I stretched to really get it all.

Jay picked me up and carried me to the bedroom.
