*Jay's POV*

The unit had been here for a while and even Sevride showed up to tell anyone how Lindsay had saved his life.

And as much I wanted them to stay because I saw that she was doing better with them around, I saw that she was really exhausted aswell.

"Okay guys. Visiting time is over!" I announced and they all said there goodbyes to Erin and then left.

"Can I talk to you for a second?" After checking that Lindsay was okay I went with Upton.

"Something is off here." She looked at me and I knew what she meant.

"I know. Something is bothering her, but she's not sharing it." Lindsay spoke normally, but there was restlessness inside.

"Do you know that she ripped out her IV?" Upton must have seen the small wound on her hand.

"I was with her when she did." I wanted to say something else, but heard something fall on the floor, which made me go back into the room.

*Erin's POV*

I had tried to grab the cup of water from the little table but my hands were shaking too much for me to hold it and so it fell to the floor.

A moment later the door opened and Jay came back in.

"What happened?" His look was concerned and I tried to fight the shaking but the more I tried, the more parts of my body started to shake until even my teeth chattered together.

"Eyes on me."  He sat diagonally next to me, but in such a way that he could hold me and I could look at him without any problems.

"How are you feeling?" The questions was unnecessary because I obviously wasn't good.

"I feel sick." I pressed my forehead against Jay's shoulder and tried to fight the feeling.

"Just breath, okay?" He stroked my back but I wasn't exactly successful and ran to the bathroom before it was too late.

"Lindsay?" Jay knocked on the door but didn't come in.

I sat on the floor with my head pressed against the wall and tried everything to make the smell of smoke disappear from my nose.

Eventually Jay came inside anyways because I didn't answer him.

"It just keeps happening." I looked at him, hoping desperately he could find a way to make it all go away.

"I know how it is. You want to fight it but you can't." I knelt down to get me off the floor and got me back into the bed.

"I want to go home." I was sure that  my own apartment would make me feel better.

"They can't let you go just yet. It's not even been twenty-four hours since you're awake and here. You inhaled alot of smoke and they need to keep you here for checkups." Jay stroked my cheek.

"But I would be feeling much better at home." I felt a new wave gripping me again.

"I know. And you're gonna be there soon." Jay hadn't noticed just yet that I didn't really hear him anymore.

"But the feeling keeps coming back." I grabbed his arm, tried to create an anchorage for me.

*Jay's POV*

I had no idea how to help Lindsay through this moments.

The only thing I could do was to hold on to her and to hope that it would be over soon.

Eventually she fell asleep because she was at the end of her tether and I used the moment to go to Dr Charles.

"Can I come in?" I had knocked on his door and he then let me sit down.

"You're Will's brother, aren't you?" I must have looked fermiliar to him and nodded.

"So what brings you here?" The guy made me feel like I could trust him with anything because there was nothing judgemental in his voice or the way he looked at me.

"My..." I looked for a word that described Erin ans my relationship.

"...partner. She was in a burning building two days ago." I felt like I didn't have the right words.

"Did you loose her in that fire?" The head of psychiatry looked questioningly.

"No. She is very much alive and currently in this hospital. I'm worried about her." I had to spill the tea because he couldn't help her if I didn't.

"Go on." Charles adjusted his glasses.

"She keeps having flashbacks. Not like once in a while and a little. More like always when she got nothing in particular to think about and it manifests itself in a panic attack." His eyes widened and if I hadn't already, now I had his full attention.

"When you're faced with a life or death situation, and you're saying she is your colleague so I'm assuming that you both are with the police, so you are faced with situations like that more often, than other people, it is still different, than having a gun pointed at you, or being trapped by flames. So it is normal for someone in a situation like this to be having maybe nightmares about the whole thing, maybe to develop a fear of fire in general, and there isn't always a need to treat it, but your partners fear seems to be more rooted. Do you know if she ever experienced a fire in her childhood, maybe youth?" Dr Charles had said so much that it took me a moment to take all of it in, before I even relaised that he had asked something.

"I don't know. She never told me if so." I had to confess.

"That's no problem. Maybe you want to get back to her now because it sounds like she shouldn't be alone for too long." The doctor got up, shook my hand and then I left because he was right.

Just when I wanted to open Erin's door Dr Manning walked out, looking worried.

"Jay." She looked up when she almost bumped into me.

"Is everything alright?" I knew that something was off.

"Not quite. A nurse got me when she noticed that Erin kept screaming while she was asleep. At first we thought she was in pain but when she woke up she tried to stop flames from burning her body that obviously weren't there. To make it easier for her to actually sleep I gave her some sedatives." I took all that information in and felt horrible for leaving her alone.
