*Erin's POV*

"And next to graduate from his class, Jay Halstead." He got up from my seed and walked up on the stage.

Hailey and I stood in the crowd and I clapped eagerly.

I was so incredibly proud that he had made it, even though I had never doubted his abilities.

Jay stood there and took all the certificates and papers he got and then his eyes searched for me in the crowd and when he found me an even bigger smile appeared on his face.

When he got back and the next person got on the stage I clapped aswell but not so much and was just happy that the whole Academy stress was over.

"I'm so proud of you." We stood on the sidelines of the event so that not everyone could see us directly, because after all I had also taught the class.

"Thanks." Jay leaned down and brushed his lips over mine.
I reached up to deepen the kiss and for a second I forgot everything around me but then we broke apart.

"Let's take this to the district then." We had organised a little party for Jay and he looked a bit surprised when Upton mentioned it.

We went to the car and when we arrived at the district everyone cheered and congratulated Jay on his graduation.

Balloons and pennants hung in Intelligence and a smile creeped on Jay's face when we walked up the stairs and I was just so unbelievable happy for him.

"So. Officer Halstead, huh?" Antonio grinned when he saw us.

"Yeah. I guess." He looked like he needed to get used to the new name.

"Have you already thought about which district you want to go to?" I was hoping that he would go to one of the neighbour districts of 21 so I could see him sometimes.

"Actually I got a spot already." He grinned and everyone around me was smiling too, which left me a little confused.

"He's staying with us." Enlightened me Rojas and my jaw dropped.

"Staying with us as in like staying in the unit?" I knew that Hank wanted someone new in the unit and I was so glad that it was Jay.

"He was the best in his class so why shouldn't I take him. But one thing, you two; while at work I don't want to see that you are a couple. You get your private and professional life separated or one of you has to leave, no matter who." The announcement was clear and I had no doubt that Hank would go through with it.

"Understood, Sir." Jay looked a little nervous and I patted his shoulder.

"Glad to hear that, Halstead. Then have fun celebrating now." Hank grabbed a beer, toasted us, and then went back to his office.

"No need to be scared. Hank is fine." I smiled up and Jay and he nodded while emptying his bottle.

"Well, you need to know, because you lived with him." When Antonio said that Jay spit his beer back in the bottle and Antonio chuckled because that seemed to be the reaction he had hoped for.

"I'll explain it to you when I get the chance." I felt bad for not telling him earlier about the circumstances I grew up but there never seemed to be the right time.

*Jay's POV*

This new opening of information made me a little pensive because I couldn't imagine Lindsay having a relationship with Voight, but I couldn't imagine anything else right now.

The others continued to drink and eat, but I could tell that Erin was bothering something because she kept glancing over at me but then didn't say anything when I raised an eyebrow.

"The thing with Hank is not what you think. It's way more complicated." I actually had no idea what to think about the whole thing but I just nodded because I didn't want to make it even more awkward than it was already and so I kept chatting with a few people, to get to know my new unit a little better.

"So. If you officially belong here now, then we can tell you a few things about Lindsay." Adam and Kevin approached me and I was really keen to get to know more about my fiancé.

"She really likes you. The whole way you met was a bit strange, but she was sure that you were the right one, even though we all told her, except for Rojas, that she shouldn't fall for you. So you better be kind to her, or you'll find yourself on the bottom of the Chicago River." To prove his point, Atwater tensed his arms briefly and I nodded understandably.

"After we have clarified that, we can now move on to the fun part." Ruzek chuckled and I raised an eyebrow.

"The story is also a bit sad, but you can feel better afterwards and forget about the little threat. We actually all tried to win Erin's heart, but she turned all of us down. For a bit we all thought she had no heart or was a lesbian until you walked into her life. Just like that you've captured her heart." Ruzek looked a bit pissed off, but the corner of his mouth twitched and I realized he wasn't really pissed off.

"Well, not everyone can be as great as I am." I got a light punch from Atwater for that, but we all laughed and I knew that this was the right place for me to be.

*Erin's POV*

My heart warmed when I saw how well Jay got along with Kevin and Adam and I watched the guys for a moment before turning back to my conversation with Rojas.

"If you're not careful, the three of them will soon move in together and you're alone again, better get a ring to that man before he's gone." It was only then that I realized that, with all the stress of the past few days, I hadn't told anyone that Jay and I were engaged.

"Well actually I already did." I blushed and a big grin appeared on Vanessa's face.

"Erin Lindsay, my friend and soon to be bride. I can't believe it girl!" She wrapped her arms around me and Jay turned around in amazement, as did Adam and Kevin.

"Are you pregnant Lindsay or what?" Adam joked and I saw Jay's face lit up for a second.

"Sorry guys. Only engaged." I shrugged.

The smile on Jay's face got a little smaller but was definitely still present.

"Why didn't you tell us!" Antonio hugged me tiedly but I didn't know what to answer because the smile kept being on my face.

After everyone had congratulated us, the mood was even better, but it was quite late already and tomorrow we all had to go to work normally, so the event broke up pretty quickly.

"From the way you look, we won't have to wait long for the baby news!" I heard Antonio's voice as we went down the stairs.

I really wanted to just fall into bed and then fall asleep in Jay's arms, but I knew we had to talk.
