*Erin's POV*
"This is such a nice place. How much money did you pay to get us in here?" We sat in one of Chicago's chicest restaurants with a great view of the skyline.
"Ouh I didn't pay a dollar." Jay smirked and I frowned.
"There's such a great trick that I can do now." He confused me even more.
"I just told them that we were watching someone who was here tonight, so we got in for free and get food." I was shocked that Jay was taking advantage of it so shamelessly.
"Honestly, I've always wanted to eat here, and I can hardly pay for it." Jay didn't seem at all to find that he was taking advantage of the situation.
"I'm not going to let your plan fail because the food is really good and it's even better that I can be here with you." Since working together, we've had less time for each other, which made our relationship better because we had less time to argue, but other things definitely fell short.
I stretched out my arms and took Jay's hand in mine, which gave me a cute smile from him.
"I love you." I ran my fingers over his arm and saw that I was leaving a line of goosebumps and I enjoyed it.
"Do you guys want something else?" A waitress appeared next to us, but I shook my head.
"No thank you. It was really really good but we have to leave now." We had been talking for a while and my high heels were killing me, which is why I wanted to get rid of them.
"You're welcome back at any time." The waitress gave us a sweet smile and then we left.
"Walk with me a little?" Jay offered me an arm and I agreed.
"Just let me get rid of my shoes." I sat down on a rock and took off my shoes.
"Come here." Jay leaned down a bit, I couldn't quite believe what he was offering me.
"No Jay. You can't carry me. I'm too heavy and I can walk." I shook my head.
"I'm sure I've lifted weights heavier than you. Come on, let me carry you piggyback." I gave in because my feet really hurt and let him carry me.
"Not that bad, is it?" In response, I leaned down, leaving a trail of kisses on the back of his neck.
"I thought so." I turned around and saw a car stop behind us and when a man got out I panicked.
"Jay let me down. Now." Startled by my tone of voice, he let me down immediately, before he could see anything I pushed him forward.
"Run." My voice was surprisingly calm and he did as I told him.
I wanted to reach for my gun, but I left it in the car.
"Damn it." I cursed and looked for a place to hide.
"Candy! Stop you whore!" Behind us were angry screams and right above my head a bullet strucked the wall.
"Who's that?" Jay kept running and I tried to keep up with him.
"Not now." The story was too long to be told now.
"Get in there." I shoved Jay into a room we passed and closed the door and he kept the door shut while I tried to find something to lock it.
Just as I put a wooden beam in front of it, I heard footsteps run past the door and I grabbed Jay's hand immediately.
"Erin." His voice was calm and I looked at him.
"It's gonna be just fine." Jay hugged me.
He pulled his radio out of his pocket and I felt relief flood through my body.
"50-21 Lincoln for 50-21 Adam." I hoped that Hank would hear me.
"Go for 50-21 Adam." I sighed in relief.
"Hank. Bender found us and is chasing after us. You need to come here." Pretty much every police officer in town had just heard how desperate I was, but I didn't care.
"Where are you at?" I heard how he turned his sirens on.
I gave him the address of the restaurant and then the direction we ran.
"That's gonna be at least ten minutes for me to get there. Just stay covered." Jay heard it before I did and turned off the radio before another sound came from it.
I saw a shadow at the window and pressed my body against the wall and so did Jay.
*Jay's POV*
The nervousness was palpable, but after I didn't hear anything outside I looked out of the dirty window and saw a tall man walking slowly down the street, moving away from us.
"He's leaving." I told Lindsay, who couldn't look out the window.
When I looked at her, she was standing right in front of me.
"Whatever happens here tonight, I want you to know that I will always love you." She kissed me and the kiss reinforced her statement.
"I love you too. Always and forever." I leaned down to kiss her again.
At some point when we felt like ten minutes could be over we turned the radio back on and a few moments later Voight announced that he was at the restaurant and so we thought we were safe, opened the door and stepped out.
Then everything went very quickly, I heard several bangs, stabbing pain in my body, my shirt soaked up with blood, Lindsay screamed in horror, I fell to the ground, then another shot, silence.
