Enemies to lovers (Bucky x reader)

You walked into Tony's office and he looked you up and down and gave you a questioning gaze.
"I need to do laundry" you quickly lied, knowing he just saw you in the same outfit the day before. "There's a laundromat not too far away from my cabin"
"You know, if you moved into the compound, you can do your laundry for free" Tony reminded you and you felt Cloud look at you expectantly.
"I'll think about it" you sighed. It was the same response you gave him every time.
"I saw your boyfriend outside with the badge" he went to tinker on one of his suites.
"For the record, he's not my boyfriend. Just a good friend" you weren't lying, but you hated keeping things from Tony. He's the one that brought you onto the team eight months ago after finding out about your abilities to talk to animals, and the lab accident that had given you fire powers. He had been working on your training for your fire abilities consistently, while also having you work out with the team in the gym daily. When you went on recons, you mainly relied on Cloud to be your partner if it wasn't Nat or Wanda with you. You didn't mind Peter, Scott, Pietro, Clint, or Vision. They made good partners. You rarely saw Thor or Loki so you didn't really have an opinion on them. Steve kept more to himself and barked orders when you were on missions. You didn't mind, it was usually what you were headed to do anyways. Sam wasn't so bad, he always just let you do your own thing. Bucky however, had treated you like you had the plague since you joined, and treated you with a lot of hostility. At first you thought he was handsome, but that mouth and attitude just ruined the attraction for you.
"Anything I need to worry about?" Tony asked you directly, breaking your musings.
"No, my personal life will stay out of this. Morgan just needed me to look at something before I started work" you weren't lying. You were just walking a very fine line.
"You know, you can talk to me if there's something going on" he put a hand on your shoulder looking you in the eyes, and you could hear Cloud yelling at you to tell Tony the truth.
"I appreciate that Tony, but, I'll be okay" you gave a smile.
"Why don't you use my computer and write up your report. I'm working on the suits anyways" he shrugged.
"Sure Tony, that would be great" you wanted to cry with relief. Standing hurt today. You winced as you sat down, and that wasn't missed by Tony.
"Are you up for sparring today?" he asked off handedly.
"I think I'm still worn out from the mission" you lied that time.
"Come on, I feel like hitting the ring later. Just you and me. Borrow something from Wanda like you sometimes do" he gave a small smile.
"Sure Tony, sounds like fun" you really lied again. You started typing up your report feeling guilty for lying. Hopefully Wanda had something other than a sports bra and leggings for you today, otherwise part of your secret would be out. That just wouldn't do.

"Wanda?" you knocked on the door to her and Visions suite. You had finished your report and emailed it to Steve and Tony. It seemed redundant to be sending it to Steve since he was on the mission with you. Cloud whimpered beside you, and you reached down to pat him on the head. She opened the door and her eyes flashed red and you could tell she was pissed already.
"Come in" she looked out in the hallway to make sure no one was nearby and closed the door quickly. "Why wont you just move to the compound?" she demanded. "We can protect you here"
"And give the mouth more ammunition? No thank you" you shook your head and she giggled at your nickname for Bucky. "He'll find me here anyways, its only a matter of time"
"Morgan and his team are searching for him, he will be back in jail soon" she spoke with conviction. "I'd love to get my hands on him" she added with a glare. "Come on, I only have a sports bra and leggings. You'll have to come up with your own excuse"
"Wanda please, a t-shirt, I'm begging" you knew she wanted you to move in the compound badly.
"Fine, but you need to start telling Tony what's going on" she sassed you.
"Finally, someone with common sense" Cloud agreed with her.
"You keep your comments to yourself" you hushed him.
"I'm just saying" Cloud sniffed at the air and waited patiently while Wanda grabbed you some clothes, then went to her for scratches behind the ears while you started getting unchanged.
"That's a boot print" Wanda sounded pissed, watching you get changed.
"I know, I was under the boot" you gave a grin. "I blocked some of the attacks, but he got me as I was coming in the door and caught me by surprise" you admitted.
"She made you not protect her again didn't she?" she cooed to Cloud who gave her a timid lick on the face. "You poor thing, not even allowed to protect your human companion"
"Orders are orders" Cloud said directly to you.
"I told you if you attacked him or killed him it would be bad for both of us. I can't lose you too" you sighed, and noticed the t-shirt showed a portion of your midriff, dangerously close to the bruising. "Wanda, you don't have anything longer do you?" you asked.
"Beggers can't be choosers" she sang. "It would be a great way for Tony to find out you've been keeping the truth from the team, and from him"
"I don't want anyone to know, its bad enough you know" you whimpered trying to stand up straight.
"You're lucky to have me" she reminded you, and you found you couldn't argue with that.
"Are you going to go check on Peter and Pietro again tonight?" she asked you softly as you walked towards the door. You turned and gave her a grin.
"Those boys always forget to bring something to eat, its not that far of a drive" you shrugged.
"They've been staying out later and later patrolling the city together, and sleeping more during the day. Can you talk to them to see if they'll start coming home early? I know they listen to you" she asked gently. "Pietro says I'm being too over protective"
"Of course, I'll give it a go" you nodded and walked back out the door with Cloud, heading down to the gym.
