It's gotta be a song that describes her. I have an idea of what the chords are but I've just gotta write some lyrics.
I spend about a half an hour writing the lyrics. I know, 30 minutes is really short for songwriting, but having her as inspiration just makes it so easy.
"Dancing in th-" I get cut off by Alex.
"Hey Luke, what's that?"
"Julie's missing her mom. I'm writing her a song. But I do need a second opinion. Does G or Em work better here?"
I play him a snippet of the song.
"Definitely G."
"Thanks. Now shoo, I'm trying to focus." I wave him away.
Julie's POV...
I wake up and see that Luke isn't here anymore. His guitar is gone too. He must be working on a new song.
I pick up my phone and dial Flynn's number.
"Hey Flynn? Could you come over please?"
"Already on my way. I saw your text."
"Thanks."
"Don't thank me. This is my job."
I hang up and go downstairs and wait for her to come.
A few minutes later I hear 3 knocks on the door.
"Hey." I say, hugging her.
"Hey, now up to your room, we are gonna have a girls day."
I laugh and follow her to my room.
She flops on my bed and then sits up.
"So. Can we talk?" I ask her.
"Of course! Talk away girl."
"So this morning I woke up and I immediately felt like crap."
"I have a feeling I know why."
"Yeah, this marks the day that mom died. She's been gone for a year now, officially." I say, tearing up.
Flynn doesn't say anything, she just hugs me.
"Hey! I have an idea that would be nice. Why don't we have a tribute for her. You and the band could sing a song for her. I'm sure she would love to watch you from heaven." Flynn says, my eyes light up.
"That's a great idea, but I think I'll just cry. Then the boys will see me at my worst AGAIN."
"Okay first of all, Luke is your boyfriend, he's supposed to see you cry. Second, Alex is gay, he doesn't give a shit about that stuff. And lastly, Reggie cries all the time, if anything he'll start crying." I laugh at the last part.
I hug her again.
"Thanks Flynn." I whisper.
"No problem, Jules. Now let's write a song!"
We jump up and run downstairs and out to the studio.
"Guys? We have to write a song. For my mom."
"Of course, but we don't know anything about her." Alex says.
"That's why I'll write the lyrics and you will put instrumentals together."
"Hold up. One more question. Why do you so suddenly want to write a song for her?" Reggie asks.
"Today marks exactly one year of my mothers death. That's why I wasn't myself this morning."
"Oh Jules... we, we didn't know." Alex says, hugging me. Then Flynn joins the hug and then Reggie and Luke join in as well. It just turns into a big sob session.
