A walk with Sam

Sam was quite the talker while the two of you went through the woods, following Cloud and Melody's lead. He let you take Pup back halfway through the walk and you cuddled him close to your neck. You had forgotten your sweater and felt a little bit of a chill. Sam didn't miss a beat, and gave you his sweater to wear while you were walking, and you flushed when you thanked him.
"What's it like to have the wolves in your head all the time?" he finally asked after a while of telling you stories of battles he had been with the team on, or just funny stories in general.
"It's wonderful" you smiled. "Before I had a companion, it was always all this noise all the time, hearing every animal there was. I can still hear them, but its not as clear unless I focus on it. With the wolves, its like having a second half with you all the time. A best friend that knows you better than you know yourself. You learn together, and learn to see through each others eyes. You see the world differently. They talk a lot, so sometimes its hard to concentrate on human conversations" you blushed at the admission.
"That explains the spacing out all the time" he chuckled. "That used to get to some people"
"With your companion, its like they are talking through your heart... its louder. Which makes concentration sometimes hard to hold. Cloud likes to talk me through things sometimes, and I forget there's other people in the room. The same with Melody. She's more outspoken, and sometimes a little louder on her opinions" you gave a small giggle seeing her turn back and look at you.
"Bucky isn't going to like seeing another mans clothes on you" she barked.
"I'm cold" you told her internally. "He hasn't shown that kind of interest anyways"
"You just did it again" Sam chuckled. "I get it now, I can tell when your talking to them. Its in your face, just like Peter pointed out"
"You need to swish your tail girlfriend" Melody called back to you and you saw her do it to Cloud who head butted her playfully. You let out a giggle and Sam looked at you curiously.
"Melody is giving me advice, and using it on Cloud" you explained quickly.
"Swishing her tail in his face?" he chuckled.
"Apparently that's a way to keep friends" you lied a little but you both had a good chuckle out of it.
"You looking forward to seeing your mom?" he asked as you both continued walking.
"Yes, and no. She wants me to leave, and thinks visiting is going to change my mind" you admitted.
"You can't just leave, you just got here. Tin man even changed his tune with you on the base" he raised his eyebrows at you.
"It would be safer for the team, but no, I don't want to leave. I love what I do now, and I know the dangers involved. I've prepared myself for it" you looked at him seriously. "I just don't know what cards she is going to pull to try to convince me to leave. For the last year, its all been about she wants grandbabies and wants me to settle down" you gave a heavy sigh. "That's not happening anytime soon"
"What about Pup, he's like a grand baby" he grinned.
"Exactly! He's my little man" you cooed as you both started walking past the cop cars and you saw Timothy jump out of his cruiser again. Cloud and Melody quickly circled back to you and flanked you and Sam on either side.
"Y/N! Hi" he came over. "Another pretty dead night, we kept watch" he grinned at you. "The little ones getting bigger" he pointed out.
"Yeah, he really is. Thank you for keeping watch so vigilantly" you flushed as you saw him checking you out again.
"No problem, anything to help out a beautiful woman" he grinned.
"I don't think we've met. I'm Sam Wilson" Sam put out his hand. "Also known as the Falcon"
"I'm Timothy, I'm just a cop" he shrugged. "Its nice to meet you Sam" he gave a smile.
"Do not swish your tail at this one, I don't approve" Melody told you quickly.
"We've been keeping watch on the inside too" Sam crossed his arms, and you could see he was taking a protective stance slightly in front of you. You looked at Sam curiously.
"That's great! The more the merrier" Timothy smiled and looked to you again. "You stay safe. I'll see you tomorrow morning if your out for another walk" he gave a wink and turned around walking away.
"Have a good day" you waved to him, and turned to resume your walk.
"I think he likes you pup" Cloud pointed out.
"Don't be silly, he's being friendly" you said out loud and saw Sam look at you and grin.
"I'm thinking Cloud or Melody just said he was checking you out, and if they did, they are right" Sam chuckled. "Not that knucklehead" he shook his head at you.
"Melody said she doesn't approve, and Cloud said he thinks he likes me" you blushed. "I think your all wrong. He's been very friendly since I met him back at the hotel before I moved to the compound. He was even a little star struck that Steve brought him a coffee"
"You're pretty oblivious when it comes to men" Sam laughed. "Its fine, its kinda cute"
"Unless a guy straight out says 'Hey, I really like you. Lets go on a date' I have no clue" you admitted. "I'm terrible at flirting. I don't get it"
"Flirting is easy, you should have a girls night to go over that" Sam chuckled.
"That's what Wanda wants to do" you grumbled a little.
"Someone catch your eye?" he grinned looking at you.
"Who what now?" you blushed a deep red. "No, of course not" you shook your head and walked a little faster.
"You are a terrible liar" he laughed. "Alright, you can have your secrets. I'll keep it to myself"
"You've always been a terrible liar, its amazing Tony believed you for so long" Cloud chuckled.
"Come on, lets head in for breakfast" Sam stopped at the stairs that led up to the living room balcony. You nodded and he waited for you to go first and you walked up.
"Did you want your sweater back?" you asked as you got to the top step.
"Nah, I'll grab it tomorrow. Just leave it out for me" he grinned. "I want to see how this one plays out" he winked and you didn't understand what he meant.
"What do you mean?" you asked as he opened the door for you and the wolves.
"Never mind that, lets get some chow before Pup gets hungry again" Sam chuckled and you went towards the dining room.
