Ryder sighed, "I swear... you guys should just be picking on someone your own size."
Across from him was multiple beat up thugs, bloodied and injured. Ryder was also injured as well, having sustained a high amount of damage from the ambush.
"Just you wait, Adachi..." glared one of the thug members, "You'll get your just desserts! You're a shitty guy all around! If your family had just paid off their debts, you wouldn't be in this situation!"
"I know, you keep saying that, so quit nagging on me," shrugged off Ryder as he walked away.
Suddenly, before Ryder could escape, one more thug ambushed him again! He hit a direct blow on Ryder, pushing him towards the ground.
"My Rad-A 'Focus Punch' gives all my physical attacks more power, huehue!" laughed the fatter thug as he walked over to Ryder.
"Teach him a lesson, Marco!" yelled one of the defeated thugs, "His Divison is useless! All it does is drink water to spit at people!"
Marco jumped on Ryder, using all of his weight to fuel his Focus Punch even more.
CRACK!!
"Arghhhh!" yelled Ryder, feeling the pain from having his leg broken.
However, just as he was getting beaten, an old man had come by and shooed the thugs away with a shotgun.
"Get away from that boy!" yelled the old man, firing his shotgun in the air, causing the thugs to run away, "Get away!"
Soon, the old man got over to Ryder, helping him up and carrying him over his shoulder.
"Old man Neossin..." mumbled Ryder, smiling faintly, "I'm... sorry I got into trouble again!"
"Save your excuses for later," scoffed Neossin, "You have to explain your injuries to my daughter. She won't be happy, you know. Your wedding day is coming up too... I can't believe you aren't more careful."
"At least I've got a pretty handsome father-in-law to help me out!" laughed Ryder.
"One of these days, Ryder, buttering me up won't work."
"Is.. is this one of those days?"
"No. Keep buttering me up and fueling my ego."
—
"Ryder!" the woman yelled, "I can't believe you!"
Immediately, the beautiful woman had tried pampering Ryder, healing up his injuries with her medicinal Sakura leaves.
"Thank you... Chika," smiled Ryder, "And I'm sorry again."
Chika sighed, "Don't mention it... I just want to keep you out of trouble. Once we get married, let's move away, alright? We'll take my father too, and we'll move to a different country away from all of your debts."
Ryder looked to the ceiling, "That would be really great, Chika. I'm... a seriously lucky man. Despite having such a weak Rad-A... I get to be with you. I promise I'll work my butt off as much as I can to please you!"
"Don't say such embarrassing things!" Chika blushed as she treated him.
Soon, it was time for them to sleep. In the middle of the night, Ryder's door opened.
"Who is it?" Ryder glared, getting up immediately.
"So on-guard, Ryder?" asked old man Neossin.
"Oh... sorry. I've just been on-edge lately. I want things to be perfect."
"I get it. I do value that you're protecting our family well, but it's important to take a rest now and then. Your energy is always important."
"Yeah, I guess you could say so."
"Ryder..."
"Yes, old man Neossin?"
"Can you fetch me some water by the well on the hill?"
"Didn't you tell me rest was important!? That hill is too far!"
"I'm too thirsty, Ryder!" whined Neossin.
"Alright, fine..." mumbled Ryder as he got up to leave, picking up the bucket, "I'll be back soon, alright? Take care of the house."
"Thank you Ryder."
...
As Ryder returned back, with the bucket of water in his hands, he felt something wrong with the house. He knew that if he had gone inside, he would've died instantly. Ryder called the local cops, and soon enough, they had found out that the house was littered with a poisonous gas that had killed everyone inside: including Neossin, and Ryder's fiancé, Chika. There really was only one culprit Ryder knew, one that had been trying to kill him for years.
In a fit of anger, Ryder had traveled throughout his village, killing every single person that was against him. After finally killing the final debt collector, he broke down in tears, knowing he could no longer get back the family he had longed for.
These debt collector killings were illegal, and soon, Ryder was on the wanted list with everyone in the village looking for him. However, he was no longer seen again.
It was a Law Shift that had transported him from his dimension to another. As he woke up, he noticed that he was in the building of someone who had been taking care of him and his injuries.
"You've finally woken up," said the woman, sitting across Ryder.
"Who are you?" yelled Ryder immediately, already on-guard.
"So untrustworthy too, and I healed you up and everything after you fell out of the sky."
"Fell out of the sky?" asked Ryder as he inspected himself, noticing that he was full of bandages.
"It's nice to meet you," said the woman, "My name is Raven Dalia. There's my introductions, alright? Now what's your name?"
"...my name is Ryder Adachi," he replied.
Raven's eyes widened, "Ryder....?"
