Healing Scars

Diving back to the hustle of her SHO duties after ending her undercover persona of Urmila was not easy for Haseena. She still bore the scars and the trauma that she had to suppress if she wanted to continue doing her duty. She also felt the weight of her lies and deceit which had changed the MPT in a way that Haseena thought would be irrevocable.

Haseena arrived at the MPT, early as usual. The members greeted and saluted her but Haseena noticed a difference. The usual light and casual atmosphere of the MPT was now replaced with a rather stern and indifferent environment where all the members lurked in corners, constantly pondered, their faces etched in gravity.

Haseena hated seeing them like this. She knew that she was the reason behind it. She wished that she could undo whatever she did and release the pain that her family was suffering from but she knew that no matter what she did, the pain would always be there. Same as hers, the wounds do heal but the scars, they remain forever, a festering canker till the day you die. Haseena noted the biggest difference in KS. Since the day she came back, KS acted aloof and distant. Haseena could clearly see the pain hidden behind her eyes, hidden throughout her tough exterior. Haseena wanted to console KS but she knew that it was too late. The pain had already been issued. Haseena controlled her emotions as much as she could and veered to her cabin, struggling to release the beast within her.

Inside her cabin, Haseena had no mind to work, her thoughts preoccupied with the condition of her family. She constantly walked around the room, cracking her knuckles and punching the table to let out her frustrations. Once she saw KS peak into the room but Haseena broke down after seeing KS leave without so much a word. Unable to control herself any longer, Haseena called Puspha Ji to her room.

Pushpa Ji greeted and saluted her, standing at attention in front of her. She too carried the same pain behind her eyes but Haseena noted that was blurred with her motherly love and concern.

"Madam Sir....are you okay?" she asked.

Haseena looked at her, uncertainty claiming her depths. "Yes, Pushpa Ji, I'm absolutely fine....." she said not quite meeting her eyes.

Tears rushed into Pushpa Ji's eyes. "Madam Sir..." she sniffled. "Are you...trying to lie...to your own mother...?"

Haseena immediately turned her head, cursing herself for her involuntary response. She knew that Puspha Ji cared for her and loved her like her own daughter. Haseena got up and stood near her, holding her shoulders and looking directly at her eyes, her gaze mellow and soft.

"No...no Pushpa Ji....I was just wondering about the team..."

"About the team madam sir?"

"Yes, Puspha Ji. They seemed to be different..."

Haseena had no words to express what she felt. She hoped that Pushpa Ji would understand her. Haseena sat back down and motioned for Pushpa Ji to take a seat.

"No no madam sir there's nothing like that. The past few months have been rough....."

Haseena needed no new reminders of the turmoil within the past few months, she herself being the main culprit.

"Puspha Ji....are you all...angry with me?" Haseena asked, her voice dialed down to a whisper.

Pushpa Ji's eyes widened at what she asked. "How can you even think that Madam Sir...we are your family and a family never gets angry with each other."
