The Shadows of Betrayal

As the night fell, Haseena rushed to the MPT, her mind swirling with thoughts. She had discussed with Anubhav and had successfully culminated a plan to catch the elusive criminal Qayamat. Haseena accelerated, her heart thumping in excitement as she felt relieved.

Qayamat's case had been bugging Haseena. It was a constant thorn in her side that she couldn't catch the criminal. All her attempts had turned in vain at every step. But now, for the first time since the case, Haseena felt relieved. She felt as if today was the day that Qayamat would be caught.

She rushed through the stairs, her shoes bouncing on the concreted platforms as Haseena heard the cacophony of voices inside. Puspha Ji and CC. She smiled inwardly, her enthusiasm in sharing her plan blooming over her face. Unconsciously, Haseena stepped to a side, hiding near the wall as she was greeted with an unexpected turn of events.

She peeked her head in, her heart hammering against her ribcage as she saw Pushpa Ji moving her hands blindly around the table, her fingers fumbling madly. She had lost her vision temporarily. Haseena heard the distinct annoyance in Pushpa Ji's voice as she heard her request CC for help in order to complete the files.

Haseena covered her mouth with her hand to stop a gasp escaping her lips. She punched the wall lightly, careful not to make a noise as her forehead creased. She silently took out her phone and recorded the sight, desperately biting her tongue. Haseena took one last glance at them as she stepped away, her heart smoking in flames. Wordlessly she climbed into her seat and drove away, beads of tears glistening in her lids. Her vision blurred, a burning flame swatting across her forehead as she continued to drive. Suddenly, she pumped the brakes as she was violently thrusted forward, colliding painfully with the steering wheel.

She closed her eyes, tears dampening her cheeks as she recalled what she had heard. Pushpa Ji had deceived her about her health and CC had aided her. Haseena felt betrayed both as a senior and a daughter. Pushpa Ji and Cc had compromised the very integrity and honor of the uniform that they wore. They had broken the sanctity of the MPT that Haseena had strived to achieve.

She smacked the steering wheel, her balled fist connecting directly with the leather cover. How could they do that to her? Haseena considered them a part of her own family but still... Unanswered questions lingered in the wake of her chaotic mind as Haseena drove towards her home. She felt uncertain. She felt unworthy as if she had failed as a senior. Haseena gazed at the night sky, blinking at the stars for answers. She signed, her emotions unravelling fleeting between SHO Haseena Malik and Haseena Malik. As she stepped out with a heavy heart, the only thing Haseena knew for certain was that she could never forget their betrayal to the uniform and the values that they swore to uphold.

Haseena distanced herself from the team interacting with them barely, acting on professional terms. The betrayal still smirked in her face almost mocking her at every step as Haseena struggled to balance her emotions. Her focus was to deliver justice and capture Qayamat.

Haseena desperately buried herself under the caseload, her heart denying the bitter betrayal that stared her in the face.

On fine morning, Haseena busied herself amongst the paperwork when Pushpa Ji stepped in. Haseena glanced at her, the corners of her mouth stretching to a pout as she barely composed herself.

"Are you okay madam Sir?" She asked, her voice laced with concern.

Haseena smiled, her eyes neither warm nor cold. She sensed the maternal love coursing through Pushpa Ji. As she glanced at her, a memory woke in Haseena's mind. She recalled how Pushpa Ji had stood by her side during the fake Rani case vehement supporting Haseena not merely because Haseena was her daughter but because she felt that it was the truth. Gritting her teeth, she awoke to the present biting back her tears.
